You don't really mind revs in a manual hatch - that's kind of the point . If it's a luxobarge, that's a different story, but even then it could be that the engine is heavily biased towards low-end grunt.

Why would you need lots of power to pass something on a million lane interstate?
Manual is totally different! For those yeah a revtastic engine is actually fun

I like just being able to totally leave a pack behind at will, nothing like 5 seconds foot down and I'm moving 2x their speed.

this also allows bmw to focus on ev's.
some may not like it, but things change.
The ZF8 simply doesn't loose lol! Why bother with a DCT and all the little annoyances of owning one when a ZF8 shifts just as fast while being indestructible?

I'll admit that ridiculous acceleration does work wonders to signal the other party that you're sick of him overtaking you with +5 only to drop down to -10 again - while you're on cruise.

And yes, the ZF8 makes DCTs useless for everything but the most hardcore sports cars.

Oh it gets the point across VERY well lol!

100%, and once you TCU tune a ZF8 it's stupid stupid fast shifting

I could not agree with you more about the bold part.

Besides Tesla, I rarely see any EV's out here. The county I live in has about 280k people, which isn't huge but it's not something to be ignored.

It makes me think that all the statements like "EV demand is going to increase by 20% each year" is a bunch of garbage. The bottom line is, EV's are barely out there. Let's not count Tesla, which as you said really is a cult vehicle.

I agree that EV demand is not going to rise that much on its own by simple consumer-choice....but the government is going to force a lot of the rise we see by restricting or outlawing gas-engine vehicle production, bribing potential ownership with tax-credits, mandating special parking-places for EVs like they already do for disabled people, and maybe even restricting certain travel-lanes on highways to EVs.

No, the government forcing it makes Americans resist more. I get Teslas are cool, they're also classified as "luxury cars". Clearly they have a niche.

I'm just not seeing much else that's EV out there, at all. I live in the tony part of town where all the best cars are. The Mercedes used car manager stocks exotics, like Bentleys and the highest end AMGs so I drive by a lot. Not a lot is happening there with the Mercedes EVs. They're just not selling.

Oh absolutely. Tesla being a cult is 100% true and these claims are absolutely ridiculous that people will want EVs more and more

The moment of terror when you go to put the 6mm Allen socket into the oil drain plug and it's finger tight......

So my heart rate is like 120 right now! Nothing like a finger tight drain plug on a $48000 engine!

And when I said that I didn’t mean Teslas are cult vehicles in a bad way, that’s a semi-negative word. But there’s really not much else on the roads that’s EV around here.

I can’t tell if people are being sarcastic or not. Lol. But that’s an honest and true representation of EVs in this city as of now.

Ceramic pads on mine were a game changer!

Good to know, I’ll keep it in mind. Brakes work fantastic, so we’re good now. Lol. But I’m always shining up those rims.

My brakes work every bit as good with the ceramic pads, but the wheels stay clean a whole week+

same here... the only ev's i see on the road around here are teslas. i occasionally see a mach-e or a taycan or something and i saw a bmw xm the other day. i've seen 1 or 2 ioniq 5's and 1 kia ev6 in the past year. oh and i saw that lucid i posted the other day.

and yes, the mb ev's are not selling here either. local dealer has a load of 'em.

none of this is surprising really... tesla is the 'known' ev with the best charging network and the cool factor. everything else is a compromise or way more expensive that only work for certain people or who have other cars.

With the recent price drops and all the manufacturing that has come online, Teslas are now more affordable and available than before too
