I'm not surprised by the mileage interval, I'm surprised its so long. This should be done at the longest every 30k miles.

strange. Because Toyota has no interval. Just look and observe Odd to see MB do that.

I think its because its a pain to look at them, you have to remove a bunch of torx screws and all...once you've looked you might as well replace them...

I just went and checked, and the maintenance schedule for my old LS460s called for the engine air filters to be replaced at 30k miles.

Unlesss there is an air-filter life monitor/readout in the vehicle, 30K miles is about average for automaker-recommendations for replacement....maybe 15K in severe-usage dusty areas.

Turbo cars like that are 30k or as needed in my experience, the LS 460 with its dual box seems like it lasts longer but I still do 30k.

Both my Audis had factory filters on them at 68k and 98k respectively and it was noticeable when I replaced them. The turbo car in particular saw an increase up top, the 12 has twin boxes like the S8 but is more particular since its NA.

@mmarshall
Here is the full cluster in case you’re interested:

Also, maybe have I been watching the old 1989 movie too much but this steering wheel reminds me of Batman. Do I sound like a lunatic?

Yes......just makes it look that much nicer. That is some design for a fuel gauge...it shows the amount of fuel remaining down almost to the last drop.

I definitely notice a difference! And remember that vibration I had at idle I mentioned the dealer said was "normal"? Its gone.

Stopped by MB today like I do some Sundays, they're closed, all the cars they've had they still have, I would say the era of crazy car markets is behind us. This stuff almost always starts at the top and trickles down...

This is the blue S580 I have had my eye on, they have had it at least 3 months. Nice spec, should be sold.

They have had this one at least the same length of time:

Both about $142,000.

They also have had this CPO 2022 GLS450 at least a month, this is a nice spec...I would consider this car if the deal was right

The GLS we drove and the other 3 they had then are all still there, 450s proudly still wearing their $13K ADM stickers and the 580 still wearing the $20k ADM sticker. Methinks thats not gonna happen...

You had intake turbulence from filters? That's very unusual, normally that type of idle shake only happens when the exhaust side has an issue/flex pipes are worn. I've near seen that happen from the intake side....

I can't say for sure, we'll see if it stays gone...

All very nice. They have a lot of S-Classes at the dealer, too. IDK if they're marked up or not.

Interesting. Never seen that on a Toyota. Maybe I’m wrong. Will have to look myself

2007 vs 2017 LS460 in Canada

Thank you sir. And yes, each rung or whatever is 5 gallons says so in the manual. It's precise, all the gauges are. I never let her get below a 1/4 tank, I realllllllly baby this car. I think every tank of gas I've ever gotten in 11 years in the LS430 was close to fumes. The 180 degree fuel gauge is neat, Cadillacs had that when they ripped off the classic Lexus gauges.
