Seriously, you should drive one...I think it would make you feel better about EVs.
I thought it's like a second slower than your car? The M version is respectable

The TQ slam effect is usually not allowed on stock cars other than the A8, the 7 and especially the S have a lot of throttle damping/restrictions etc on stock maps. The LS is HORRIBLE about smoothing stuff

Oh okay, got it lol! Perhaps the AWD version can be hacked to give the same performance as the M if hardware is the same? It will depend on how heavily they locked them down and what the OTA updates will relock/restrict really.

Your S can pick up a good bit from stage one and if you are out of warranty....

But I’m never going to do that. Both are plenty fast for me

OK. 3 comments and a question.

Comment:
1) I am glad someone here has spent time in this, because I am very intrigued by this car.
2) My son has a subscription to Car & Driver and there was a recent write up comparing this to the ICE version and I absolutely love everything about both of these 7 series cars.
3) I know the styling has been controversial, but I think this is the best looking 7 series BMW in memory for me...ever. The presence this has is comparable to a Rolls Royce in terms of overall height and just overall stature. I truly love these cars in person and I see them frequently in my general area.

Question: I read something that led me to believe that the rear view mirror does not leverage a camera... yet the rear seat has a massive TV screen that obstructs the traditional view from a rear view mirror. What's the story?

I too think the car looks much, much better in person. It’s striking and makes an impression, which a lot of cars don’t nowadays. I really
like the traditional sedan roofline which we haven’t seen on a sedan like this in a long time. The W223 S Class is more beautiful, but it also is completely forgettable.

That’s very true about the mirror. In fact the rear shade is totally opaque whether you have the big rear screen or not, and with the shade up you cannot see out of the rear window. The lack of a camera mirror is a huge omission.

I will say, this is the only car I have driven that I feel a pull towards it over my S Class. Nothing else has done that for me including the W223 S Class, Range Rover etc.

Getting back in my S though, it also is just an incredible car. I will have a hard decision to make next spring.

I also drove a very nice loaded X7 M50i, yeah SUVs just aren’t for me.

Great points all around. I love the comment about the S class being more beautiful but simultaneously forgettable. I think this 7 series will be remembered for quite a while. I absolutely love it, whether as ICE, or as EV... and I've never even set in one, let alone driven one.

at 106kwH that takes a lot of charging time at home but of course most people are rarely doing anything close to a full charge overnight.

It a regal and luxurious look about it, that's for sure.

BMW brand image is a tad notch below MB. Imo

Maybe I'm wrong about that, I don't know.

All luxury brands are IMO, even if it's a small notch.

Nah, Bentley, Aston and Rolls easily exceed it.
