i'm saying your car (R129) has probably adapted to your driving style to make the pedal feel more sensitive, and that R230 probably hadn't gotten a chance to yet
it's also been my experience that as a car gets more gears more electronic torque limiting happens in 1st and sometimes even 2nd, so it may just be the way things are lol... ever increasingly strict fuel consumption restrictions also probably factor in
consider yourself lucky your LX still has the 6 speed, i remember when that 8 speed came out in 2017 it was an absolute slug below 30 mph or so, completely ruined the feel of the highlander, sienna, land cruiser, etc...

That 8 speed ruined everything for no mileage gain except on paper, of one mpg. It considerably slows the 570 down. Pass.

They tried to sell it as an upgrade, too, naturally. Zero MPG gain real world because it always goes straight to 8th and would require a heavier foot. Even car mags say that transmission "neuters" the engine.

so lexsctjill and ajt... to recap...
4 cylinder engines suck
6 cylinder engines suck compared to 8 cylinder engines
6 speed (or 5 as in 4runners!) is better than more gears
turbos suck (literally, lol)
what's funny to me is all these heretic ev's are 1 or 2 speed, no turbos, and the best acceleration.

Hagerty with Jason Cammisa did a SUV drag race recently with the V, Range Rover, G63 and Rolls Royce. Check out his reaction to the V’s exhaust.

I have to agree with Jill on this one. Truck-based SUVs weighing some three tons, with a high center of gravity, are not intended to be sports-sedans. They simply have too much bulk, and are prone to rollovers.

I have to say by and large I agree that the 5 and 6 speed transmissions I have had have felt better than the higher speed transmissions. The 9 speed in my S560 is pretty good. The 9 speed in my Pacifica is terrible. Hard to say that I have had any better transmission than the 5 speed in the LS400 and 6 speed in the LS430 and GS350.
I think the tall gearing in the pursuit of fuel economy has diminished the feel of older transmissions.
For me, I don't want a 4 cyl anything either, but they are the way things are so I have no choice but to try and find one that I like if vehicles I want to buy only come in 4cyl. Would I not buy an Atlas over a Telluride for instance if I liked the Atlas better just because it has a turbo 4? If I was okay with how the engine felt?
Having had a TTV8, I can safely say I see no reason to go back to a NA V8, the ones I have driven since becoming used to this just feel lethargic at low RPMs.
