Yep. That's why I see on FB 2021 Cruisers that cost $85k new selling for $110k now. Toyota sold every single one they sent here. USA is just an afterthought to cash in, and for enthusiasts. Toyota sells well into 6 figures of them worldwide a year.

The outgoing gen with the 5.7 was amazing. Some cried and cried about it and now the LX is no better, no quicker and has less cylinders. At least it still has full time 4WD

I should note that it is faster but not by a whole lot, at least the 6 speed versions of the 200LX. I'm really eager to see how this new 3.4tt holds up over the years, guess we have lots of waiting to do. Just losing the tailgate alone makes it inferior. We use that all the time. Even Car and Driver complained about it in that comparison test that it's gone.

I read somewhere about a rule of Horsepower Hours vs Displacement.
If this is true, I'm not expecting 200-300k miles from an engine that is running 100hp or more per liter- all things equal such as quality of parts of course.
Haven't looked into it much but it does affect people who buy used cars with higher miles and trying to decide a value for it if the engine is not expected to go the distance.
Just ideas

I would not buy a 100k+ mile LX as of right now, the engine needs to prove itself.

Is it realistic to see smaller turbo motors have the longevity of a larger engine?

This versus the 5.7? Nope. The fanciest thing the 5.7 has is oil-pressure actuated Vvt-i. No way will this force-fed V6 tick to 3-400k on just fluid changes and plugs like the proven V8. I'd be hesitant to use regular fuel unlike now, as well.

It never makes sense to me but I guess it does to a few. Toyota finally realized. Lol. I remember this one guy bought a new LC in early 2000, then replaced all wheels with shiny chrome wheels and lowered it to reduce wheel gaps.

LC is way more subtle, I think many buyers like that. Though yes to me it's nuts to choose that over an LX, personally. Especially when they weren't far apart price-wise. Pretty sure Cruisers go for more than LXs in the used market and have for some time. There was one here a 2013 for $48k with 168,000 miles on it...it sold.

The Sequoia was about to be cancelled. But somehow Toyota USA convinced Toyota,Japan to keep the sequoia. Otherwise we would have a full land cruiser line up in North America like we did up until 2000. Sequoia probably won’t succeed.
