The good news is when I lease I always look at the residual and say that I am usually paying half or whatever the depreciation is for all of the options I am getting so I usually load up my cars now with all the options (at least that is the logic I use to make me feel better).

Thank you Jill!

That's what I pictured thinking of Steve jumping in a minivan after parking the turbo'd MB. Lol

Not at all that she likes the Pacifica...she likes sliding doors. Pacifica, Carnival, whatever she wouldn't care. Thats what makes it frustrating. If she truly liked and wanted a Pacifica it would be different, but she doesn't care...so if one is buying a $64,000 vehicle one of us may as well enjoy it.

I don't disagree!

So, weirdly threre are not a bunch of incentives on the Pacifica....we would get the $7,500 tax credit in a lease, but I make too much money to get it on a purchase...and the money factor on the lease amounts to an absurd 10.2% interest rate. So, I would have to buy it...not sure what kind of financing Chrysler offers, looks like no finance incentives either so their rate would be over 7%. I can do better but its a hassle.

For comparison, from Chrysler Capital on a Grand Cherokee the MF on the lease amounts to 1.2% interest. The dealer has 45 Pacifica Hybrids...and this one was built 8 months ago, Are they just not wanting to move these?!

You will love it, I listened to it in a Maybach this year and it was amazing in all respects

Not to change your mind, but this likely wouldn't be an issue. Our little chihuahua mix has no problem at all jumping in and out of the Q7--did it about 8 times on Saturday. She's a senior (9 years old) and 23 lbs (there are some bigger dogs in the "mix" lol), so the rocker panel is actually above her head. As I recall, your dog is pretty young and significantly bigger than that.

The bigger dog makes it harder, he's a 75 lb golden retriever and they can have hip issues as they're getting older. Its not the height, its the narrowness of the door opening. For instance he can't jump into the front seat of the Pacifica, but he tries..

Gotcha. Yeah I had friends with Goldens when I was younger. Hip dysplasia sucks big time.

So this is interesting.

Through this endeavor I have been ghosted by multiple car salespeople, never has happened to me before.

Test drove the i7, drove several cars with the salesperson, he said he was going to send me numbers on the i7 model we drove...never did. Never gave me any contact information to follow up with him and he has never attempted to reach me.

Drove the Grand Cherokee, salesman was supposed to look and see what he could find with the tech package we would want, never got back to me. Never gave me his card or any information so that I could reach out to him.

Test drove S580s with a salesperson in VA. Was supposed to follow up with me with some numbers, never did. I do have his card and reached out to him and he replied back to me once and told me it would be 6-8 months for an order (which is not true), sent him some cars I have interest in at other dealers and he never replied.

Test drove the Pacifica at the same dealer as the GC but with a different salesperson, since I had no way of reaching the first guy. Spent 35 minutes with him yesterday, both of us there, drove the van, told him that if we could make the numbers work I would buy it today...he promised to get back to me with numbers yesterday afternoon...nothing.

In all my years of shopping for cars I have never had issues like this with dealerships. Its like they just have no motivation to try and put a deal together at all. Each person was told that I would be purchasing a car within the next 30 days.

The ONLY person I have dealt with that has connected with me the way a salesperson should is the guy at MB up here by me who we looked at the GLS with back months ago and now I'm talking about an S580 with, he's the one who could get me the 24 by the end of the year...

I think one way or another they might have felt you were not into their car. Or maybe they are reading your posts. It hasn't changed with me. One particular MB dealership... one of the big bosses always follows up after I see an SA to check out one of their cars.

I agree that is unusual for so many salespeople of different brands to all snub you...That has never happened to me. Are you giving these salespeople any reason to not want your buisness...being cocky or argumentative, asking things that they consider unreasonable (even if those things are not unreasonable in your view), or giving them reason to believe you are not serious about a new vehicle? You've already told them you are in the market within the next 30 days...so they know you are not just window-shopping. If you were shopping for a Ford, GM, or Stellantis product that might be affected by the strikes (as with a Pacifica, or the JGC you test-drove), maybe the dealerships just can't guarantee a factory order would soon be filled, for obvious reasons. And that obviously isn't the case with an M-B or BMW product, which is non-UAW assembled.

Nothing has changed with me, and the guy yesterday I literally said "if we can make the numbers work I will do this tomorrow" lol

Very strange.

Of course not, I'm a pro. The Chrysler dealer has the specific van we drove that we want to buy. The BMW guy has the i7. The first Jeep guy was going to check and see what he had in inventory and he doesn't have a car with that package (I can look up his inventory too), but you still don't just not reply.

I've checked my email spam folders too to make sure I'm not just missing people's emails...nope...

The only common denominator is they can see I'm a seasoned carbuyer and its clear I'm not going to just pay whatever they want...but I know their volume is way down because I watch their inventory...this Chrysler dealer has 67 Pacifica Hybrids and its the end of the model year. 114 Grand Cherokees...end of the model year...

ha. my experience... i have NEVER had 'numbers' sent to me by a dealer salesperson despite asking MANY times via email, phonecall, text, even in person. they always require me to come in because then they have all their tricks.

with my lexus which i bought long distance, it was verbal back and forth until the salesperson said "what's your bottom line" or something, and i told him and he got it approved.

i don't think they want the hassle of (and time spent) negotiating with someone who knows what they're doing. they'd rather wait for the sucker to come in and just blindly pay what they ask.

email is so 20 years ago.
vast majority of email i get these days is 'written' by computers.

yup, so instead they wait for a sucker to walk in instead. you're "hard work"

but I know their volume is way down because I watch their inventory...this Chrysler dealer has 67 Pacifica Hybrids and its the end of the model year. 114 Grand Cherokees...end of the model year...
wow that's a ton of inventory.

Yep, they need you there to close the deal.

Pretty much in a nutshell.

Most people buy same day, not within 30 days.

If dealer knows you are ready to buy TODAY they will work harder to close.
