I'm used to cars with zero engine trouble, ever. Replacing rod bearings preemptively on a car, more power to people but that is not for me. That's major engine work. I would never have bought my MB if M113 was known for engine trouble. IMO an engine you shouldn't ever have to touch, literally, other than normal maintenance.
100% not for everybody. But for folks that want to thoroughly and safely enjoy a truly special powertrain, it may be worth it.

Totally fair position to have, and I wouldn't try to convince you otherwise. On the flipside, this is the only time BMW has put a literal racing engine in their series production cars, so one has to decide if that extra effort is worth it. The tradeoff for a couple grand of (admittedly invasive) preventative maintenance is a family sedan with a 5 liter V10 that revs to 8,250 rpm and (optionally) a 6-speed manual. There have only ever been......well, this one. No one else has ever done it. Even the Gallardo-sourced V10 Audi put into the S6 and S8 was limited to 6,750 rpm.

I wish these Germans were reliable like Lexus but you pay more, but it's worth it if you love your car.
I would sit in my SL and watch my house burn down, choose for the house to burn, before I'd let the Silver Arrow go up in flames. I get attachment to German cars lol. I still can't believe I have what I have sometimes, let alone a limited run one.

That’s a fantastic plate. Ever since we changed out plates MANY more people have personalized ones now. I ordered “V8FTW” for the Yukon.
Also KNOCK ON WOOD, No problems with the blower that’s been acting up and needs a regulator.

@Striker223 what do you make of this? My wife got into the S560 today and it gave her a "low coolant" warning. I had this issue back when the car was pretty new and I wound up replacing the cap to the coolant reservoir. When she got home I checked it out, I could smell a little coolant. I removed the cover and sure enough, the damn cap has failed again! I don't think anything else could be going on...

I also agree that plastic engine parts (like that radiator-cap) subjected to constant high temperatures like that are ridiculous......but, nevertheless, we are seeing more and more of that from manufacturers.
