A proper engine is a good looking engine.

No covers are needed.

No reason to hide a machine if it is built with elegance.

I don't believe he caused the problem because I consider plastic parts to be disposable from an engineering standpoint.

Unless plastic is the ONLY way to do it because of limits in metal forming for the design.

A cover there causing this sounds a bit excessive.

Why don't you take it into the shop? Isn't it under warranty still?

In case anyone left their key inside with a child... I saw a video on my feed where a cop demonstrating how to push down a window with two toilet suction pumps. Would this cause any damage to the motor?

Depends on the car, cheaper ones no.

The cap should be designed to withstand the heat the engine makes under normal conditions.

I did have this thought, remember how I added those covers that mysteriously Mercedes stopped putting on the car in 2019? I wonder if maybe this is why they removed the covers? This reservoir is underneath one of those covers

How mine came from the factory:

We assume that this was a cost savings measure, but maybe it wasn't...
if true, then that is a serious engineering flaw.

Did you top off the coolant? Has the warning cleared?

Haven’t topped it off yet. I didn’t get the warning today, and I only get it on a cold start in the morning so it must just be right on the edge of the low level.

Just add a little coolant. Once the warning is off. Drive with it with the current cap and leave the plastic cladding off, then you know. Also, you could see if there are any TSBs?
Spoiler

LOL, so that’s what it means!

Im tempted to just put it in the shop like it is to make sure it gets on record within the warranty period.

Haha! That's the LS460 in winter, it hides under its OE car cover until the salt is gone

Lol what is salt going to do to a car that's not driven at all, not to mention covered?

Oh wait.... no caffeine yet. I get what you mean. LOL.
