So here’s a question, what did you do when you didn’t have a utility hatch type vehicle? You must have made do and hauled that in your G90 or found some other way to deal with that.
I’m not arguing that people shouldn’t buy what they want at all, I’m just saying complaining that people who buy one vehicle because they want it not because they need it when we all buy what we want not what we need is hypocritical.
Literally 85% of what I own is what I want not what I need lol
In other words, leave people who want to drive pickup trucks alone.

I'm just going to add that my friend who sold me my LX has had to use it to carry or haul something more times than I can count.
He's a sports car Porsche snob and still poo poos BOF SUVs, I'm like "Do you see what you're doing here????" Lol.
I have used our truck for his office chairs, Porsche bumpers, I've towed for him once. Happy to do it forever as I told him but I did casually mention to him that maybe he could use one of these... take the hate blinders off lol.
Taking SL to the Devil's Triangle today since this weekend is it for convertible weather and the leaves are still pretty. I've never done it, sounds like fun. It starts at Brushy Mountain Prison.

Feels like there's a lot of gate keeping and projecting going on in this thread... One person may end up in a vehicle they wanted. One person may end up in a vehicle they needed. One person may end up in a vehicle that they both wanted and needed. Everyone's life and story is too different for all the blanket statements being thrown around in here and being forced on everyone

There's a lot of want in that need. But that's my opinion. Buying a new car by itself is already a lot of wants. And yes, leave people's choices alone. Nothing wrong with buying something that one does not need. I know a few who pair a full size truck with a fancy car. It's all want, no need for that bed. They pay people when things need that bed. Lol.

I'm talking about Toyota's R series engines most famous were the 18R, 20R and 22R. The engine family goes all the way back to 1953 and stayed in service until 1997.

humans can rationalize anything.
my book keeper has a 2009 (i think) nissan altima. she keeps saying she wants to get something else (safer, more reliable, better), but it's not a priority for her, and the ol' altima just keeps on working. so she doesn't really 'need' a new vehicle, but she certainly wants one. most can make do with what they have, and there's even rationalization in that ("oh it's fine, even though an "x" would be better) lol.
i picked on pickup trucks because there's just so many of them and what makes a pickup a pickup, the giant box on the back, plus towing ability, is so rarely (or even never) used by probably the vast majority of them. and don't get me started on stinky jacked up diesel pickups and gas ones with giant tailpipes that makes absurd amounts of noise (and smoke).
but sure, i'm all for people getting what they need or want.

Well, I agree with you, except that gas-engine vehicles (which many of us STILL want) are (mostly) on the way out. Buick, for example, is skipping over even hybrids (I would have no problem with an hybrid), and will make everything in the American make BEV by 2030. Ridiculous.

Government interfering with a free market always spells disaster. So many millions of Americans who wouldn't touch an EV. Americans don't like to be forced as you know.

Oh I still have a few things to post re: something else I just don't feel like dealing with it right now.
Nothing to do with EVs.
