Yeah the areas up in the hills were great, but the whole downtown walk of fame area was really gross...what a shame.

One thing I'll say is we lived walking distance from where you were up toward the hills (I'll get a map screenshot and mark some stuff later), and it was pretty safe then. Never any problems. That area is very dangerous now. Where did you stay?
We were staying in Disneyland at the Disneyland Hotel. We just drove up to LA for the day, did the La Brea Tar Pits, Griffith Observatory, Rodeo Dr, Grauman's etc.

Keeping it to cars, I HATE the 4 cyl E Class lol.

I’ve spent a lot of time in NYC, love NYC.
One would think that NYC, with its huge population, would have worse traffic than D.C., but that's not necessarily the case. A lot of people there simply don't own private cars, and get around by buses, subways, cabs, and Uber/Lyft.

Oh it’s worse for sure.

if you’re in the greater NY metro area the traffic is pretty bad, if you’re just in Manhattan though then like you said you don’t get around by private car.

what i found unexpected about NYC insurance rates from my GEICO agent days is that the boroughs almost follow like the pattern of a hurricane lol

manhattan is the calm eye of the storm where rates are often surprisingly low... then directly outside the eye in the bronx and brooklyn premiums are the worst, and prices slowly fall again as you move out to queens and staten island

idk exactly why manhattan had such noticeably lower rates but going into that job i'd have thought the opposite

If you think about it, that makes perfect sense. Much fewer private cars, very low speeds, most loss is probably property loss from theft which is covered by homeowners or renters insurance anyways.

agreed i think the less dependence on car ownership certainly plays a big role, the affluence of the area likely does as well

but still there's just SO much to hit between other cars, pedestrians, delivery bikes, those horse tour carriages lol... i was just surprised to see that at first

I have a family member in the insurance business and frivilous claims dig deep into the profits.

It's worse that anyone can imagine these days.

One of my agents moved to FL a year ago, he has a Rivian. He is in town and was at the office today, drove his Rivian up from FL, he let me drive it today. I loved it! Rode well even on the 23s, very quiet...very impressive...

He stopped 4 times to charge for 30 minutes each over 800 miles...not bad...

A Ford F150 Hybrid can go 795 miles on a tank. Time is important

So I watched the movie Blue Beetle tonight. And Toyota does the ultimate Tacoma product placement.

Movie spoiler ahead

Even my V8 F-150 will do about 650-700 on a full tank on the highway.

i watched Blue Beetle as well over the weekend and noticed the Taco. I also was laughing at the fact that the movie editors used a V8 audio track for it.

This is the Rivian SUV, much more compelling vehicle to drive than a Hybrid F150. The trade off is no time spent at gas stations when not traveling. I would prefer not stopping for 2 hours during an 800 mile trip, but I would much rather have that Rivian day in and day out.

Personally I would never drive a trip that long anyways. Longest trip I would drive I would only have to stop once. Time is important which is why I would never drive to DC from FL lol

Having had a vehicle now for 2 months I plug in and unplug every time it’s parked, doesn’t bother us in the slightest
