Does anyone know what happens during cruise control and you reduce speed? I assume brake is applied? Is the brake light also turned on? If brake is applied, is it better for the brake driving this way than driving yourself? Just wondering. Thanks.

I have owned one car day one, my 03 ram. It's been the most perfect car my family has ever owned in terms of reliable operation of everything involved. Literally unfailingly perfect for 165k miles. It's the first car my dad ever kept past 50k miles since he simply couldn't comprehend that it was still perfect at such "high" miles. I got it as my first at 80k and it served perfectly up until I had enough money to get my Jeep and turn it into an impressively impractical monster.

Mine has the older 360/5.9 small block and 3 speed+OD 46re that is really just a 727. Totally industrial grade stuff that can't be killed, I have seen these run 400 miles without coolant

I think early 2000s were good years for domestic trucks, too. My beater GMC is the same way, GMT800s are widely respected. Those old GM 5.3s before all the EPA crap was added next generation were unstoppable. Mine has had that piston slap on cold cold starts for a decade, just a normal issue that sounds bad for about 15 seconds but doesn't cause any damage if you start it after it's been sitting for a while. I've said all this before but the only thing I've ever changed was transmission fluid bc I towed with it. Original everything else-- fluids, coolant, brakes even. Turns over on a crank or two and runs well. I think Fords were also strong then, too. That Triton V8 was slower than the GM but I want to say it proved to be reliable? Back then it wasn't insane with trucks hitting 100mph in the 1/4 lol. "Good enough" acceleration was fine back then.

I decided to take my German to Florida this time, it's doing very well and I have 55 miles left so I think it's safe to say I'll make it.
MPG was not what I was expecting, I was sure I would tie my 460 but I only managed 28 average at 90mph unlike the 30-34 the LS gets. I'm not exactly sure why.
Only "issues" I had were the car is more stressful to drive than the 460 by a large margin. Seats are harder but overall fine due to the massage function, it just doesn't settle down like you would expect a flagship to. Feels like a 5 series at best but that goes with the territory/vibe of the car. Other problem is that in typical turbo car fashion it ate oil, I actually posted this when pulled over to fill it since I got the add warning.
Not bad though, only needed to stop for gas once.

Similar displacement, AWD, comparatively low-ish comp (not low but still a turbo) vs RWD and high comp.
Don't see any issues. Both engines should be operating in their BSFC sweet spot at that speed.
On another note, how exactly do you get 30+mpg with constant 90 with an LS460? I get 23 (10.2/l100km) with the cruise set to 95 (155kph), and it's a 3rd gen gs450h (less weight, less aero cross-section, etc). Measurement done on a round trip, ~400km(~248mi).

Not doubting honesty but wondering if the estimated mpg maybe a little off in the info display?
My best is 27 mpg according to the info display and that was at exactly 70mph on the highway with the wind at my back on my RX330 with 3MZ V-6.
Going faster gets me worse mileage.

The cluster seems to line up with actual distance traveled/gas put in the tank so I trust it.
I'm also not surprised at that your hybrid only gets that much, it's not as powerful as a V8 at higher speeds so it works harder and the hybrid system can't help. My MIL has a RX450h that also badly loses on interstate to both my LSs but kills them under 60 mph or any type of stop and go. EDIT: your car actually is only 110lb lighter than mine and not as slippery and frontal area is close, that and a V6 is likely why.
This is after I got back from berryville AK, that's round trip including a week of driving in town to dinner and the ranges. Pure interstate I was over 32 the whole time

All new fluids, great tires, and the 07s have different engine tuning than later years. It consistently gets me 29-34 at speed except for hilly areas where it drops to 26-27. I also run 36 cold/39-41 psi hot so I'm a little on the firmer side. I also tend to pulse and glide and draft trucks a good bit, if I'm going down hill I pulse up to 120 and coast for a mile or two back down to 70 to minimize mountains impact.
