Isn't that the same with all manufactures? Dealers will try anything to make a quick buck. Including outright lying.

No idea. Never worked with other manufacturers. Always been a Lexus customer. Though I should widen my scope a little.

Bought nothing but Toyotas and Lexus since 1996. Strayed a little and bought a 2018 Civic Si, but it just wasn't the car I wanted and a year later sold it. Now that I'm moving towards EV'S, Toyota and Lexus are not there yet. Let's see what happens in the next few years when I need to replace our Sienna

Do you want to get the car because of low mileage or low price? If it's the latter, IMO your family member can just sell it in CA and give you the net profit.
