Tbh - I have never used the frunks on my Tesla, so fortunately is not a deal breaker for me. Maybe that will change with the ginoromous one on the Lightning.

They have a rear-drive model that gets 300 miles. 335 horses are still a lot. Not everyone needs the most they can possibly get lol.
You said there are conversion kits... so that means if someone were to purchase this, they can remove that hideous grille and replace it with one from say a 2019 4-series?

He was talking about a relatively inexpensive conversion kits to make the grill look more like a conventional grille. There will also be some presumably more expensive kits coming like this article shows

When did you order the car this year? End of year delivery is very optimistic especially M50. I ordered in March this yr I don’t expect I’ll get mine this yr. Which dealer did you ordered from I’m also in Bay Area. Dealer I ordered from has been very quiet, every time I asked something no respond. You will also likely get 2023 MY and BMW already hiked the price by $1400 for M50. Some options were also removed from E40 trim, 360 cameras and driver assistance pro features are not available on E40. Fortunately M50 still has them.

Yeah no doubt it's going to drive people away. They'll probably warm up to it over the years though, just like the spindle. You see something long enough and it softens your stance on what you previously thought was horrendous.

I ordered in late April from BMW of Mountain View. They estimated about 8months, but im honestly not in a hurry.
How about yourself?
I tried calling all the dealers in Cali but they only have i4s for demo...

Because it's not just as simple as slapping on a bumper and calling it a day. The bumper has loads of sensors mounted on it, including the radar for the adaptive cruise control molded right onto the beaver teeth.
These upgrade kits I'm seeing aren't just for a new bumper, they also have sensors built into them like the radar to replace the ones removed with the old grille. And those sensors aren't cheap. This isn't taking into account the costs associated with installing the sensors or running software compatibility checks on them to make sure your car runs properly, not to mention the strong possibility of this electrical job voiding the warranty or your new Bimmer.

Figured high cost due to being a specialty item but with added sensors and software like you say, I can see it.

Matt D’Andria, of Car Cast podcast, is a critic of what he calls the bucktooth grille.

Yeah, its the whole front end of the car. Its $2,000+ just in parts, then everything has to be painted and installed.
Repainting the bumper on my LS was $1,000 and that didn't include replacing the bumper itself.
