Default A “Line” on my new 2022 RX450H hood

I bought a new 2022 RX450H one week ago. The 2nd day I noticed that there was a scratch lookalike “line” on the hood.

See attached images named left, mid and right. The whole "line" was illustrated in “hood.jpg”. All red lines were added for indicating where are the “line”.

I believe that there was an additional layer of (paint?) at front part of the hood. So, I can feel by my finger and see the “line”.

The “line” was so neat, so precise, was not possible by someone who tried to damage the car. Is it a manufacture imperfection or something else? I am waiting the response from the dealer. Anybody can help?

Thanks in advance.

Its paint protection film installed on the hood. You can remove it if you want. I have it done to all my cars, but I have the whole hood and fenders wrapped so there isn't a line.

Steve has it exactly right. This is PPF, which years ago used to be called a "clear bra" (to distinguish it from those awful black vinyl things attached to the fenders with straps). it is there to protect the paint from rock chips and such.

+1, to be fair, the dealer should have disclosed that there was optional paint protection film installed at some point during the sale process.

Some dealers always install it on every car.

It would've been on the Monroney label, right? I guess that's all I was trying to say. "Disclose" is a broad term... for better or worse.

There should have been an addendum on the vehicle. OP probably should have looked more closely at the car they were buying before driving off. That said it's a clear bra, no harm no foul.

It would be, or it would be on an addendum sticker.

PPF, that was nice of them to put it on, it can cost more than a thousand to have installed afterward.

That's nice that it has it, PPF works amazingly well to protect the nose cone. Also get some on the leading edge of the roof over the glass since it gets hit hard too

Partial PPF on a black car always sticks out like a sore thumb. If that was on a lighter colour car, it would be hardly noticeable.

It's like that on my Tundra. It was installed before I bought it. I hate the line, which is very visible on a white vehicle. That's why, when I had it put on my GS, I had the entire hood and fenders done. No line.

On the Tundra, I'll probably just take it off completely or have it redone to include the entire hood.

Oh they don't put it on for free lol.

If the poster didn't know what it was he probably shouldn't try to take it off himself.
