You'd be surprised. Out of the 118K Cadillacs sold last year, 41K of those were Escalades- a third of their entire US sales. The fat profit margins on that thing are the sole reason Cadillac hasn't become another Buick.

The point spread also shows how far back of the body on frame pack the LX600 is. I am curious how it would have fared against the X7 and GLS-Class, of course those are both unibody, but are also priced along side the LX and have 3 rows and could be more "traditional" luxury brands vs the American trio it was pitted against. I fear the LX would've been even further back of those in anything other than off-road prowess. Also interested to see how the LX would stack up against the brand new Range Rover, which is of course able to push price up quite a bit above where the LX is at.

is that based on your perception of reliability?

Not surprised. However, LX is still the choice for long term reliability, resale value, and off road ability. We'll see how this new engine holds up over time. So far I'm impressed with the engine, it's faster and 17MPG is a lot better than the LX570. Still I'd want the V8 though, me personally.
They even mentioned the deleted tailgate, you really know it sucks. We were just using that the other day at the park, sitting on it enjoying the day in the shade under the tree. I always sit on it when getting gas.

A supercharger would be amazing but frankly stock the 5.7 is plenty for me.
Just kinda sad to think of the insane V8 this 300 would have if Toyota didn’t cancel V8 development.

1. Escalade
2. The rest.
I thought I would have liked the LX when I first saw it on line. Seeing it in person and test driving it killed all the excitement. We all have different things to look for and if reliability is the main factor, LX may be the choice. But this is first year model so we can't really tell if it would give any issue and I think with a 91-100 score, it's safe to say Escalade is reliable. Apparently look is subjective too because people do buy them.

Seeing that most of the people who get these will drive them 3-5 years or less and trade them, reliability isn't a big factor for the consumer base. If you want a truly incredible vehicle with lots of incredible features (magnetotheorlogical dampers, etc) the risk of costly repairs comes with that territory.
@AJT123 though, would you say your GM SUV has been reliable? The Escalade is just a fancy version of that. Has a tried and true V8 that should be more long term reliable than the turbo 6 in the LX...
I see LOTS of old Escalades on the road, they have to be at least mostly reliable...

I really bought into the "GM trucks will last forever" mindset because there were so many GMT800s around when I bought my GMT900 Yukon Denali. Hell I still see them around all the time. My Yukon really started to fall apart after 110k miles though which was shocking. Makes me wonder how durable the current gen would be over the long term.

what you didn't like with the LX? I went to test drive but I can't find one locally.
How would I rank?
1. Escalade
