LX600 vs. Escalade vs. Navigator vs. Grand Wagoneer

I really love the looks of the LX, but some of the packaging and options decisions that they made are certainly perplexing. If I were in the market, I'd definitely be driving them all before making a decision.

Interesting comparison. I wonder if actual buyers would really get into the details.
The justification could be as simple as “Neighbor so and so already bought an Escalade, so I’m going with LX”
Anyways, I agree with Escalade as numero uno.
You could do better Lexus.

Seeing that most of the people who get these will drive them 3-5 years or less and trade them, reliability isn't a big factor for the consumer base. If you want a truly incredible vehicle with lots of incredible features (magnetotheorlogical dampers, etc) the risk of costly repairs comes with that territory.
@AJT123 though, would you say your GM SUV has been reliable? The Escalade is just a fancy version of that. Has a tried and true V8 that should be more long term reliable than the turbo 6 in the LX...
I see LOTS of old Escalades on the road, they have to be at least mostly reliable...

I absolutely would not buy the equivalent of what I bought in my 200 series, now. I don't think the 3.4tt it will be reliable like a simple V8 either.
And I am in total agreement my pick would be the Caddy, not even close.
And yes, that gen (GMT800) are among GMs best they've made.

Looking at your list of cars... you may like it. It's just not for me... IMO though, you should try something on the other side to experience the difference. You may not want to come back the "safe side".

I keep thinking the new Sequoia should have been Lexified and it still can be and should have been the new LX. However, I'm not sure it can affectively compete as well since the packaging of the 2nd and 3rd row is so bizarre.
Let the 4runner and GX twins maintain the offroad creds. Not every SUV needs to have offroad cred and capabilities.

I tired the germans, in the mid 2000s, X5;, 545i and a s4, all great cars but there was always something breaking. and yes I usually keep cars more than 4-5 years and drive them uo and down the states. I do like the x7 and GLS (v8) versions of them

That was pretty much the worst time to own a German car from a reliability standpoint. All three big German brands were at their worst.

The approach and departure angles aren't anything special anyways. No doubt the LX is tough but that chin is going to suffer some damage.

LX has heritage it has always been a capable truck, unbreakable. I like that they are keeping with that tradition. It's basically the only Lexus that hasn't changed. It needs a V8 though.
