Default LX600 vs. Escalade vs. Navigator vs. Grand Wagoneer

Recent comparison test on Car and Driver... not going to spoil it, but the results were pretty predictable.

Comparison Test: 2022 Cadillac Escalade vs. Jeep Grand Wagoneer vs. Lexus LX600 vs. Lincoln Navigator

Yeah spoilers for articles are silly lol. We can’t discuss an article while preserving the outcome for those who haven’t read it.

No surprise here unfortunately about the LX, I haven’t driven the new one but just from looking at it and watching/reading the reviews it feels like it’s from another era. Imagine how ancient it will feel in 5 years…

The Escalade is just an awesome vehicle.

The outcome was as expected and I'm surprised the Wagoneer did as well as it did. For me I think I would still take the LX since the others are just too big for my needs and wouldn't fit in my garage. It's sad that Lexus seems to be so lazy these days.

I thought the "ahoy-matey body roll" comment was pretty funny. Overall a good read.

A SWB Escalade is 211 inches long . A standard garage is 20 feet deep, so 240 inches. As long as you don’t have cabinets on the front wall it should fit, but would be really tight.

I laughed at that too. But, with the best skidpad number! Crazy.

i was respecting the OP as posting right after it. yes, the lx came last, and no surprise at all. if lexus wants to compete in that space, they need a vehicle big enough and luxurious enough to do so. right now, they don't.

I got a lot of chuckles out of the whole NFT thing, the whole article was a lot more amusing than the standard C&D fare.

I didn't know that 20 is standard, what are the other lengths/standards that are common? That would mean a lot of houses they are building around me have garages that are smaller than that since many can't fit a 1500 that is 19.3 long....

Sometimes a lot of roll doesn't translate to low grip, many cars that may feel good or seem flat grip like crap vs others that feel soft. Like a 8th gen civic feeling good but sliding/understeering right off the road vs a Crown Vic

Standard 2 car garage is 20x20. Anything under that is undersized, anything bigger is oversized. You also will commonly see 20x22 or 22x22 which is a much better size. My garage is like 20.5x20.5. Most builders today are building garages bigger than standard. In my garage you cant open any vehicle doors more than 1/2 way, I obviously have big cars. I also back the van in, because otherwise the hatch hits the garage door when opened.

If you had a 20' deep garage, you would have a hard time fitting a 19.3 foot long truck in it, Remember the door takes up a few inches, it would just be so tight it would be a big hassle to get it in or out.

Ah I didn't know the door intruded like that, makes sense then why it's near impossible to fit a truck in. I actually went to measure mine and I'm at 22.1 wall to door like you suggested it would be for an extended and 11-13 feet per car excluding the areas for the side door and storage, 3rd bay has the widest side to side room by far.

Guess I got lucky, I never thought to measure it past "can I fit my truck in here and open the door without hitting anything" lol!

Needless to say I can fit any of these in here fairly easily but the LX600 is nice and compact, I would likely choose the Jeep unless the Escalade V is on the table. I'm hoping for a Hellcat GW soon since that would be awesome

The problem with its compact nature is the extremely tight backseat. If I didnt need a decent backseat I wouldn't buy a vehicle that size...

Yeah 22 makes the garage WAY more comfortable. At 20.5, if the pacifica is not positioned perfectly (I have a curb for my wife to just back up into) the hatch will hit the concrete wall at the back of the garage when you open it. I could probably position it a little closer to the door but I would be afraid my wife wouldn't pull it in enough and the door would hit the front of the car.

Escalade would fit in mine, but barely. i'd appreciate the separate glass opening because there would be no way to open the hatch.

Around me 20 is pretty standard which is annoying because at that size it's almost an afterthought when they were building houses here and you can barely fit two cars in the garages. When I go to other parts of the country I feel that many of the garages seem a little bigger/wider which even an extra foot or two wide makes a big difference when opening car doors inside. The problem with the side of the garage where I park my SUV is that there are stairs that go into the main house which limits how big of a car can fit on that side since you lose a few feet of depth or you will hit the stairs. My X7 barely fits because of this.
