I wonder if Jaguar will ever show their canned XJ EV to the public.

For me personally, the early to mid-2010's was the last of the attractive full-sized sedans. I'd put this at the top- it is totally gorgeous. Stealthy, clean, classy, supremely elegant, and not overly styled like today's offerings. I guess this is the beginnings of the "I'm stuck in the past" mentality. <g>

I like all the flagship luxury sedans from the early 2010s. Except the 2011 Jaguar XJ that thing was ugly!

My favorite generation of the S class is the W221. Although the W222 is growing on me. No love from the W223 from me.

Genesis G90 looks weird…. Audi A8 looks kinda bland…Lexus LS 500 looks awkward from the side….

the Tesla Model S is beautiful, but the interior is an ergonomic disaster.

That leaves the new 7 series, which I quite like. It’s very stately and gives me Rolls Royce vibes.

There is *so many* canned cars I wish would be shown to the public. IDK if you remember but besides the Phaeton, Porsche also revealed a bunch of unborn projects and Bugatti too. Toyota recently revealed a bunch of unborn projects too during CALTY's 50th anniversary.

I would namely love to see the "NB1" generation V10 NSX, which was due for a Detroit Auto Show debut a few months before it was scrapped... I just KNOW there's a full scale model hidden in one of Honda's design studios basements under covers, maybe even multiple. What a shame we might never see it.

It wasn't misunderstood--it was a VW priced like a luxury car and no one wanted that. VW warranty; VW sales people; VW non-loaner service dept. The "misunderstanding" was that VW thought people would not care about the nameplate for the price.

Part of the problem, though, was that much of the public allowed the nameplate to cloud one's judgement. There's an old saying........"You can lead a horse to water, but cannot force it to drink". VW did exactly that...they offered a beautiful and impressive luxury sedan, with an interior worthy of the Queen Mary, with a W12 engine that, while not cheap by any means, strongly undercut the price of competing BMW and Mercedes V12 sedans. And not went nowhere.....because the public could not see past the VW nameplate.

To some extent, we saw the same thing with the Kia K900...an excellent and impressive full-size V8 luxury sedan, that, like the Phaeton, was rejected simply for its nameplate. I test-drove a K900, and IMHO it competed favorably with competitors costing thousands more.

ahh yes that does sound familiar lol... my favorite trouble maker was definitely this guy:

everything he touches turns to gold! then maybe only like half a year ago he started to get everyone going again, but i noticed a similar pattern with the unwavering gushing praise over the 2006 GS lmao

pretty sure you were the one that ultimately shut that thread down too
