I have been looking for a new vehicle with a GVWR of 6k for tax purpose and chose the Toyota Tundra because its utility. Go to the dealership near me and this was their offer. Market adjustment
$10K penalized $1k for no trade in and $1k for cash. I think I will pass
I know that dealership. Went with a friend for a RAV4. Told them wanted their best price right out the door or we walk, this was when all vehicles could be had below MSRP. Salesperson came back all excited, he had written down the MSRP, add-ons the dealership was putting on-pin stripes nitro, etc.- and said "Here's a great price, won't be able to beat it!". Needless to say we walked, looks like they are really trying to grab every dollar they can!
Penalizing for no trade? lol. This dealer is something else.
They've got nerve, that's for sure. lol
Add $1,000 if you do your own financing or write a check ?!?
Shows everyone who doesn't believe that dealer makes extra money on the "back end" for car loans and proof is here for everyone to see. lol
It seems like they have a used car price, then add another $4k on top of it for, you know, being used...?
"Toyo Advantage Used $3995"
And then another $1000 penalty for paying cash? Am I reading that right? "Cash Deal $1000".
Oof, I totally skimmed over the "Toyo Advantage Used". That is crazy! CPO, sure, I understand the upcharge, but I thought that would be baked into the market price.
And yes, I read that "Cash Deal" to mean, actively punishing the buyer for not financing.
This just screams "You are a sucker". Like, this dealer is really out here trying to ruin their own customer image.

And they're probably running TV ads telling viewers how wonderful and great they are.
well that's a terrible deal all round, but just as odd is the concept of positioning a used vehicle with ADM/market adjustment. After the initial sale, there's no relevance MSRP any more, there's just a market value. They should simply say it's a used truck on sale for $74,839 (plus all the other crap they are trying to peddle)
I am sure these guys are bagging some deals too, out of 10 people walk 1 probably buys and that is enough for them to keep on using these practices. I went to my local toyota dealer for a sequoia price, they told me they will sell for MRSP but charge 3k for misc accessories like ceramic paint protection and vin etching..
I just love dealerships. At least there's no charge for "ripping customer off". I hope you laughed in the sales guys face then continued to laugh as you walked out the door
This is worse than I thought, reading the comments I do see where it says used.I was negotiating for a new one arriving in a month. I guess you cannot accuse the dealership of predatory commerce since you are not buying from the dealership and they are acting as an intermediate???? Is this how the game is being played?
