I am not sure because I've never had a LS400/430 but at the time it was pretty cool to have even though the screen was really small based on today's standards. It stayed in our family to almost 300,000 miles. We sold it to my father in law and then he gave it to my sister in law. By the end of it's life it was in pretty rough shape but at least the engine lasted and had no sludge issues since we changed the oil often with synthetic oil.

Honestly I wouldn't touch it unless you think you can flip it for big money.
I've read many posts in the older forums about some of the Engine ECM's and many other parts having problems and unavailable or can't find new.

Not sure if it applies to this exact year and model but anything before year 2000 may not be fun to try and find parts and that includes interior trim pieces too.
I don't know maybe I'm wrong but I'd want to know I can still get everything needed for the car.

Good points, I'll have to check into that. I would love to own this plus a first year LS400, I'm hoping I can still get everything since it shares with the Camry a lot.

No engine computer issues with the ES250 or the Camry counterpart. Capacitors don't go bad either. Body parts are difficult to find, ABS sensors are impossible to find. Overall still an easy to car to own and maintain.

Don't like the roof wrap maybe it was done to cover up bad paint, or could be something worse. Interior looks good though I'd buy it. Wait is that a convertible?

They are claiming it is....that's scary to me since I don't think that was a factory option. I'm hoping it's just a stupid wrap that wasn't screwed on. It would make me not want the car if it's an aftermarket conversion, if it's just a warp then it's just a point of bartering in my favor.

This area especially makes it look like a convertible top. But the back glass is still glass, I think? I'd offer them $1500 if they get insulted oh well.

I'd bet money it's just a simulated convertible top. Those are just the worst.

Not a real convertible. Just the top, usually glued on, to make it look like one. Pretty popular in the 80s for reasons that I will never understand...

Yup it was pretty popular on Cadillacs in the 80’s. Never understood it myself.

Now I vaguely remember. Talk about a cheesy way to fake luxury.

Cheezy to the max no doubt.

But I'll confess, I loved the fake convertoble tops back in the day and thought it added style, there I said it! haha
The Landaeu tops too.

Guess they all went out of fashion like bell bottom jeans and loud shirts but I hear they're making a comeback, please no.
Not so much for the fake tops tho.

great read thanks for sharing, and i learned something more about these RXs. i always thought the all lexus v6s were interference!

i always thought it was interesting that lexus put mirror tint on the rear glass of these models, to later remove them for a more uniform look. i think it's more of a style element of the era!
