Default Theft Prevention at Park n Fly

Hey everyone. I will need to leave the RX at a park n ride for a week. What would you recommend for theft prevention?
I'll definitely block the VIN, and get a wheel block. I am also planning to park at the valet section of the park n ride. Any other recommendations?

I would assume the valet section would be fenced in, so that's a help. I guess you mean covering the vin on the dashboard. A sophisticated thief has many ways of getting a vin. Not sure what a "wheel block" is, but a steering wheel bar wouldn't hurt. I just wouldn't trust the attendant to put it on the wheel.

Make sure your insurance will cover your car should anything happen.. Outside of that? leave nothing in the car. Lock it up. Its all about making your car less attractive than the one next to it..

An airport park n fly is probably one of the safer places you can leave a vehicle in terms of theft. The place is probably fenced in and well lit, there is an attendant at the gate 24/7, multiple cameras filming everything, a fairly steady stream of drivers and customers going past the car. A thief would even have to pay your bill to drive it out of there . If I was a car thieve, that is the last place I would go to steal a car and instead would head to one of the 20 airport hotel parking lots right next door with absolutely no security. I think you are overthinking this. Relax and enjoy your trip.

Also being an RX, there should be many more of the same car in the parking lot there, so make sure nothing about it really catches anyone's attention and it should stay safe due to its overall obscurity. I'm saying this as an RX owner, I really like the anonymity of owning it. Nobody really notices us.

Disable the engine before you leave, pull random connectors but leave them almost entirely plugged in so they give up if they attempt to start.

I would park it and lock it lol.

Seriously I have left much more expensive cars at airports for a week+ and it will be fine. Just park it.

There's really very little you can do in that situation. If a thief wants your car in an airport parking lot, they are going to get it.

Yeah I was going to say the same thing. If you're that worried, just get a ride to the airport and leave your car at home. But why worried though? I do it all the time. Much cheaper than parking at the airport and you don't have to deal with traffic inside. You pay to park there so it's their job to watch your vehicle. No?

I was so caught up thinking about theft prevention I didn't even think of this simpler solution. lol

I think your RX would be just fine especially if there's nothing interesting looking visible from the outside.

I have parked my LS Sedans and my S Class at the airport many times, nobody has ever bothered them.

i would be more worried about it being in the elements than theft. i would always prefer a covered parking, then of course remove any visible temptations from inside the vehicle.

I had my ls400 broken into with window smashed to steal a hardwired Valentine One radar detector. It wasn’t very visible and had been left there safely many times in the past. Until it wasn’t.

Was in very visible part of short term parking with cameras.

don’t leave anything valuable in sight
