Breaking: California to Ban New Gas-Powered Vehicle Sales Starting in 2035
#46
let's get back to the ban and not about charging on trips which we've discussed ad nauseum.
- so let's assume we're a year or two away from 2035. will some people be 'rushing' to buy a new ice vehicle?
- when we get to 2035 and the ban is in place in california, will used ice car prices climb?
- is it likely government will pile on as time goes by, adding more gas taxes for example, to crush ice sales further?
- what if there's simply not enough new EVs available for sale compared to total new car sales the year before?

If people have range anxiety then why is the Model 3 and Model Y outselling the Toyota Camry and Rav4, both hybrid and non hybrid in California? And why do I see hundreds of Tesla's and non Teslas EV'S traveling between Northern and Southern California (and vise versa)? You can only have range anxiety if 1) you actually own an EV and feel it or 2) rent one, drive long distance and feel it. If one is in neither category then there is no way to have range anxiety. All those thousands of Tesla and EV owners like myself that travel long distances a lot don't seem to suffer from this type of anxiety
So far the Rav4 in 2022 as of May 2022 sold 167,685 in the U.S and the Model Y sold 91,667 in the U.S. I didn't get to check the global sales for 2022 and again I'm very confident that the Rav4 outsold the Model Y by a long shot...

California sets the trend for the rest of the country Toyota has benefited from this for decades. And stop being a **** head with the Commiefornia nonsense. As for the Model Y it will this year have the highest revenue share of any vehicle in 1-2 years will be the best selling Vehicle. Period.

It's impossible for it to be the best seller when it's too expensive outside your inflated state. Most people literally can't afford a new car yet alone a 2x the price EV since unlike housing or even normal dealership model cars with variable prices the EVs are priced for the rich in Cali and NY with no what to get a better deal in poorer areas.
That may work great for you guys out here but then again your houses are 5x the prices

There's a much bigger world than C--------. The Rav4 in 2021 sold 407,739 in the U.S. and the Model Y sold 161,529 in the U.S. I didn't get to check the worldwide sales but I'm very confident that the Rav4 outsold the Model Y by a long shot...

Alaska wouldn't be anything without their oil, NY wouldn't be what they are without their financial sector...what's your point? I"m not going to get into a states vs states discussion because just our GDP alone is bigger than most countries, so maybe you should re-run the numbers? (Hint: $3.4 Trillion)

Did you not see the numbers? I understand ---- is the 5th/6th largest economy in the world but the Rav4 is selling 4 units compared to 1 unit of the Model Y in the U.S. alone. I'm very sure the Rav4 is selling in larger quantities globally compared to the Model Y...

And I'm not sure why you keep referring to Cali as Commiefornia. It doesn't bother me but being called a commie can be fighting words for some

Historically yes since you guys bully the rest of the smaller states. That's changing though.

We'll revisit sales numbers when the Y becomes the best selling vehicle will be interesting to see what you say then.
