Default Breaking: California to Ban New Gas-Powered Vehicle Sales Starting in 2035

Breaking news today... Although it's been talked about for the last 2-3 years, it looks like tomorrow the California Air Resources Board is going to enact the CARB Advanced Clean Cars II rule, which significantly ramps up emissions requirements starting in 2026, with new gasoline-powered light-duty vehicles stopping by 2035.

CARB has tried several times, in the past, to mandate percentages of EV sales in the state. Each time, they were forced to retract them by overwhelming negative opinion...and those measures were not as restrictive as this one was.

CARB like Cal OSHA and CalTrans have become far too powerful in recent years. CARB’s unchallenged restrictions are ridiculous. Some years back I bought an STSV in Texas, from retired NHRA champion Eddie Hill, and it had a beautiful cold air intake setup for the supercharger. I had a smog check performed on it here and it passed (passed) all mechanical portions of the test. But it was failed for the visual test simply because it didn’t have a CARB sticker on it. I managed to source an OEM intake for it from Canada and surprise, it (also) passed. $200 a year for DMV registration on a 15 year old car is also ridiculous. Luckily a smog check is only required every other year.

^^^ Ha Ha...........Fred Flintstone's car.

Actually, however, the Jetson's car would be more of an example of something electrici and intended by the regulation.

Sure BAN cars while the wealthy fly their private jets for 20 miles, use their Yachts and power their oversized mansions but the poor Joe / Jane going to work will now have to suffer by overpaying for tech advanced car that will do zero to benefit environment.

Assuming the electric grid could handle everyone with one of those. Which leaves us with Fred and Barney’s ride…….

However, Spielberg has previously stated that global warming “terrified” him and ripped people who “go blithely through life” without caring about their impact on the environment.

“I’m terrified of [global warming],” Spielberg remarked during a 2018 interview for his film Ready Player One. “Global warming is a scientific reality. It’s not a political trick. It’s a true piece of real, measurable, quantifiable science.”

2035 is a ways away so whatever. Maybe it’s realistic, maybe it’s not, we have a while to see how it plays out. What I don’t like is the virtue signaling about cars when wealthy people can own mansions and private jets. Why don’t we just ban flying for vacations or pleasure while we are at it.

So is Gavin Newsome planning to improve charging network before banning gas cars first? Currently, it’s still a challenge to own BEV without worrying about how to charge on long trips. I recently tried to charge at Electrify America since my car has 2 yr free, it wasn’t pretty trying to charge at public stations.

Say no to soulless woke EV's. Mandate hydrogen such as the Toyota Mirai or Hyundai Nexo, hydrogen is cleaner than EV's and free hydrogen for the first 3 years.

By 2035 not many people are going to be interested in buying ICE powered cars there is zero need to ban them. Right NOW interest in ICE vehicles is on a sharp decline.
