There are some long distance reaches in that article

Like anyone is going to leave their phone behind. The other reasons cited are to put it bluntly downright stupid.
You know Toyota and Lexus vehicles have had GPS in them since 2009-2010 LOL. My 2010 IS350 not only had a GPS antennae, but it also had a cellular line, that still worked! Just for the heck of it I hit the SOS button, and I got connected to some Lexus service (Lexus Enform) and got a live operator seeing if I wanted to renew the subscription. Oh, but the Lexus is non EV so that's OK

CarPlay and AA don't track you? OEM infotainment doesn't either? Interesting.

So here is my conclusion looking at the numbers, the huge increase in sales and demand of BEV's and decline of PHEV's (Toyota in particular) in just a quarter, I can make a very educated assumption that Mr. Hollis is trying to get ahead of Toyota's miscalculation which is the loss in sales to EV competitors, and not having a viable EV to compete in a competitive market. So Mr Hollis who now has to justify mistakes and miscalculations made by Toyota, uses the dying demand in hybrids to try and tie that to future EV adoption saying with zero proof that people are not ready for EV's. Tesla has already proven that statement wrong. Also, saying that the article is "click bait" to me is just a slight of hand or distraction if I may say so. It may well be, but it does contain a link to his full statement, which everyone can read.

Am I wrong? Could be, but you would need counter data to prove my assumption wrong, which of course I welcome

Members, let’s give the clickbait and intentionally confrontational threads a break.

if you want to discuss EV stuff absolutely fine. If you go out looking for articles that are going to cause an argument here you’ll find those too. Don’t post them here. Post stuff that is balanced and thoughtful and share your experiences. Fair warning, this type of thread would make you lose access to the EV forum we are considering adding.
