Why wouldn’t you wait for the official press release?
Of course we know that- BYD made these components and put them in their other EV's long before they ever partnered with Toyota. Toyota wouldn't have bothered partnering with them if they didn't.

A press release doesn't change the fact that these components were developed by a BYD subsidiary for BYD, not Toyota.

Nobody knows if Toyota did or not have a say in respects to the power output. Or how something is tuned.

What if there is a up-spec model with more power using a Toyota EV motor? BYD for the cheap entry trim and maybe a Toyota spec motor for dual motor. We just don’t know.

Anyways, don’t really care all that much. It does look pretty good, kinda reminds me of a crown (new version). But not really a fan of anything you have to plug, wait and charge

Here's the old thread that featured spy shots of this exact car. Interestingly enough, the test sticker listed the manufacturer as "BYD Auto." No mention of Toyota on the sheet. BYD themselves have made no mention of even putting this car into production under their own brand.

motorola / lexsctjill - give it a rest... you're not communicating effectively, then splitting hairs, etc.

motorola, we get it, toyota and byd created another company, jointly owned by toyota and byd (50/50 ea). yes, this in no way means toyota owns 50% of byd, a huge company now. they do not afaik.

joint ventures by 'foreign' companies doing business in china with chinese companies is common and often required.

as far as who made what on the car, it's not super important but byd has been in the ev game a while. i believe warren buffett invested in them too? i expect most of this car is byd made.

Lots of fake news here.

Bz3 is made on tnga platform, designed by Toyota which is obvious since it looks like bz4x sedan.

It will be produced by faw toyota in china.

It is using byd motors and battery, at the same time bz4x in china also uses chinese supplied motors and battery, unlike ones in europe which use panasonic batteries.

Let's hope there are improvements compared to bz4x when it comes to usability.

The Chinese bZ4X uses the same motors as the other international versions, not ones sourced by BYD or any other company. And it uses both Panasonic and CATL batteries in China. Again, same as the rest of the world, including the U.S.

This bZ3 manufacturer is quite literally listed as "BYD Auto" in the post right above yours, there's nothing fake news about it.

The original news source said absolutely nothing about bZ3 using e-TNGA, and having an outer shell that stylistically resembles another EV in its lineup doesn't mean it's the same underneath.

Here's the interior from the other thread:

Looks like even the infotainment is different from the BZ4X's since it's a full-screen layout.

Thank goodness…an EV with a sunroof

Over 100 Toyota engineers from the design, production, engineering, and quality control departments participated in the development, working in unison with engineers from BYD and FAW Toyota.

class-leading aerodynamics with a Cd value of 0.218.
hah. And not so ugly wheel arches.

According to the press release, it does surprisingly use the e-TNGA platform even though the batteries and motors come from BYD. No word yet on battery size, but since it's China-only it probably won't be sufficient to bring overseas in its current form.

Interior is dreadful...

Poor aesthetics. Once again, a wasted opportunity by a company that could have done better.
