Also, screens should be able to be turned off when you're driving at night. I do a lot of night-time traveling and it would be so much easier on my eyes if I could just turn off the screen.
does your BMW not give you that option? Lexus does, I just push the display button and then I have a screen off option.

I agree, unfortunately automotive journalist trashed and drug it through the mud. RTI, But I love it so much better than a greasy fingerprint laden touchscreen.

So I went out digging through the menus, and you can in fact turn it off in the BMW. This will be handy for long night-time drives. My F-150 does not have this option.
Like Steve, I also enjoy the ambient lighting in my car. I drive around with it on all the time. Sometimes I dim it or turn it off on long drives at night, however.
Does it have a night mode? That map looks blinding in the dark.
It looks brighter in the picture because of the exposure of the camera, in person its not blinding at all, but yes everything can be turned off. I never turn any of it off.

That's one thing I really like about my cars, the screen can be completely banished into the dash.
