I like the mechanical temperature dials with the temperature display in the center.

Although I wonder if the temperature display is viewable from all angles?
Already, I can't see the zero on the left dial.
Perhaps a simple temperature display above the dial is easier and more legible.
Just that a dial - like the central volume dial - looks so bland.

love not having to look down at all for most things.
you gave 100% to a post that suggested it should be customizable. So I asked how you and he would want it because as you listed, not much there to customize and they are fine the way they are. Not sure yours does it but some would alert you with a big red car when it anticipated youay collide to the one in front of you.

You seem to assume cars with buttons lack of VC and OTA update. And all buttons are one fixed function buttons. All these are not accurate. Since you strongly support VCs, have you been in a situation when you wanted to get to a setting but don’t know the VC or the car doesn’t have a VC for that? Would you rather keep throwing random VC to it or press a button?

sorry, misunderstood... my 100% was more to the 'huds are great' comment.

So I asked how you and he would want it because as you listed, not much there to customize and they are fine the way they are. Not sure yours does it but some would alert you with a big red car when it anticipated youay collide to the one in front of you.
yes my hyundai at least will do the big red alrerts (thankfully i've only seen that a couple of times and nothing bad happened!).

as far as customization, the hyundai at least let's me check/uncheck a bunch of things for the hud and of course change the position of it on the windshield.

ideally to me, it would be even bigger on windshield to allow more concise nav directions to be shown, or it would interact with apple carplay / android auto too.

and when self-driving gets better, maybe we can surf clublexus.

Voice controls just don't work well on either of my cars, and the implementation is slow.

Thats a really good point...Land Rover is a good example of using ***** and buttons in this way.

My Hyundai doesn’t show gas. Honestly I don’t think I’d want that. Too much info would just clutter up the HUD

It shows:
speed
lane keep lines
cruise (when on)
blind spot
frontal crash warning (probably emergency braking but thankfully that hasn’t happened yet)
radio station (when changing station)
nav (when using)

Voice commands in my old Lexus were terrible too. You had to remember precise phrases for it to have a shot at working. More cars now use natural language recognition similar to Siri — much much better

Yep. I HATE having to speak differently only to have it fail to work, repeatedly. I fully expect it to work instantly, the first time it's attempted. Otherwise it's just enraging

Yep, I always say when it works as well as me saying something to my wife in the passenger seat then it will be worth considering. Until then it just is an unused "feature"

Agreed, VC is not perfect. But it is the future.
VC in our Model 3 is pretty good. Not perfect. And yes, if you don't know the command, you hafta guess or are outta luck. You do have to learn; these cars are different. No doubt.

Can you suggest a setting that I might try? Tesla has much of the common stuff covered. I rarely touch the screen.
By the way, I haven't been in a car with configurable buttons. Are there very many?

The carmakers just need to give up and fully integrate the phones, the solution has been staring them in the face but they keep stubbornly trying to resist it.
