Motor Trend placed the Civic Type R ahead of the Corolla GR. Bummed they withheld the lap times though, they're waiting for BDC(or whatever they rebranded it to) to release them.

I have one coming, on the boat from Japan. I’m excited for it.

Yea seems to be evenly matched honestly, so some will prefer the CTR to the GRC. The smoking tire review I just posted, they both said they like the Corolla more. And that's fine with me cause like they said in the video, this was a dying segment, so actually having options all of a sudden is a huge win for everyone.

I don’t care if it wins comparisons or head to heads. The fact Toyota did this with a 3 cylinder. They put it real full time mechanical awd drive. With torsen diffs front and back. Carbon fiber roof. 6 speed manual. 2 seat version Made in Japan. Impressive!! Very special. A true collectors item one day

Watching people drive the CTR on youtube literally makes me get motion sickness and seemed painful they way they get thrown around. For similar money, I would still take the GR Corolla. I feel like Toyota put in effort, thought and care into creating this car. With the Civic, more welds, slightly more power and concrete columns for suspensions and call it a day.
