What? It will not be slower than the previous model.

Faster of course. Mercedes isn't going through all of this trouble just to have a slower outcome lol

agreed.

The green push will always be more expensive
yes but non performance hybrids bring fuel savings, and EVs bring major savings (no fuel and almost no maintenance) AND amazing performance.

and this is slower than the previous model.
as you corrected yourself, no it isn't.

for what it is, not really. first off, it's a mercedes, which means it's very well built and VERY safe. second, it means it has a lot of standard equipment. third, it's a plugin hybrid, so as you say, it's going to be heavier.

but at 4654lbs, it's not crazy heavy. i remember my gs400 back in the day was about 3800lbs i think, and my LC500 is 4300 i think.

In error: This is what I had read

The stopwatch tells the story: Mercedes-AMG claims a 0-60-mph acceleration time of 4.6 seconds for the new C43 on the way to its electronically limited top speed. The C43 we tested in 2017, which was powered by the original 362-hp version of the V-6 rather than the later 385-hp engine, recorded a 4.2 second 0-60 time.
But it was referring to the C43….

Anyone know is the new C63 gas part is handcrafted?

It is ABSOLUTELY crazy heavy for what it is intended to be. As I noted, it's only 150lbs shy of the flagship S580. Just 300lbs lighter than the V12 760Li. Both of those cars are TWO FEET longer than the C63, and two classes up with WAY more luxury features. It's 700 lbs heavier than the much-larger and more powerful CT5-V blackwing.

But more importantly, compared to the cars it competes with:
900 lbs heavier than BMW M3/M4
800 lbs heavier than Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing
800 lbs heavier than Lexus IS500
700 lbs heavier than Audi RS4/RS5
700 lbs heavier than the outgoing C63
400 lbs heavier than Tesla Model 3 Performance

In the performance space, manufacturers go to great lengths just to shave 100 lbs from a car. Things like removing sound insulation, rear seats, door handles, speakers, etc. So it's impossible to downplay the fact that the new C63 weighs half a ton more than its primary competitor. And about the same as an F-150 Supercrew with the 5.0L V8.

900# heavier than M3/M4 as well as 2 cylinders down, dont care if it maybe faster. What a joke. Can see MB fans jumping ship over to other brands still with more cylinders and less claptrap
