As a daily driver - G8x is much better sure.
As i stated, its easier to drive and more comfortable but is that what an M car should be at the sacrifice of raw performance and engagement.
I daily drove my 2016 M3 with DCT in NYC without any issues. You just need to put some effort in learning how to drive. To me that’s what makes certain cars special that your average joe can’t go in it and drive like he is Ayrton Senna which is what basically new M3 does. You need zero skill to operate it.

Still a not-great angle, but muchhhh better. This car will looks so good in better photos.
Square elements work better with the overall classic proportions of the car than the triangular.

In these pictures they do look close. The camo is doing its job in tricking eye and masking details. To my eye the front overhang on the camo model looks a bit longer but not by much really.

Yup... still in a bad angulation. When do we look at a car this way?

unless just the pics, the camo'd one hood slopes more and is more 'straight' whereas older 5 has nice curved hood.
bottom of windows (top of door bottoms) also angles up on camo'd one so i expect it to look significantly different.
and of course there will be the hideous new front and back.

I'm not sold on the new 5, the middle-rear section is what bugs me the most as I said earlier, very bloated and big looking due to the ICE/EV compromise platform, and the trunk line is even less flat as a result, more sloped.
I think the front overhang *might* be the same length, but the more wedge-shaped, forward raked hood makes the overhang look bigger. Basically kinda feels like they're going for "modern E39" proportions.. wish they would stick to the sporty looking F10/G30 proportions though.

2014 F82 M4 6MT: 1592 kg
2014 G82 M4 6MT: 1675 kg
That's 93 kg or 205 lbs. If you add 25kg to the G82 (bringing it to an even 1700 kg) to account for the lighter-weight Carbon buckets, CCBs, and wheels included in the M race Track Pack (that are not present on the F82 they weighed), the difference is 108 kg, or 237 lbs. That's not nothing, but it's nowhere even close to 500 lbs.
But combine the extra power with the dramatically higher levels of mechanical grip from the significantly improved suspension, and you wind up with a MUCH faster car despite the 6.7% weight gain, and not just in a straight line. The auto G82 is twenty-two seconds faster around the ring than the DCT F82 (7:30 vs. 7:52). That's a lifetime. And the full-fat G82 is only 2 seconds slower than the F82 M4 GTS, which is a literal racecar, with factory-equipped water injection, race buckets with 5-point harnesses, full rollcage, fully adjustable coilover suspension, extreme weight reduction, full aero package, oh and Cup 2 tires wrapped around carbon fiber wheels. To further underscore the point, the far less extreme G82 CSL is another thirteen seconds faster than the F82 M4 GTS (7:15 vs. 7:28). Why is the inferior car so much faster than the superior one?
Are there compromises in the new platform? Absolutely. But there are a crap ton of improvements too, which result in a car with significantly higher limits that can be driven faster in a straight line AND around corners. So let's not pretend that they turned the M3/M4 into a Camry this time around. We should welcome cars that outperform their predecessors, even if they also became more comfortable dailys in the process.

I will go through the weight specs and update my reply but there were videos with BMW engineers where they discussed the weight #s when G8x was launched.
Your track times are misleading as your comparing a base F82 to G82 Competition. At least do apples to apples.
Nobody has denied that G8x puts down better #s. I have stated numerous times its a better daily and much easier to drive fast than F8x. The F8x cars are very raw and need to be mastered to drive smoothly, while G8x is stupid proof and even amateur can put down amazing times.
All this still doesn’t excuse that F8x as a whole was much better engineered for its time. The DCT, lower weight, cooling, CF components are all superior to G8x.
