I know your joking but lets give BMW credit here - this is a NEW sports coupe with amazing ICE inline 6 motor mated to a 6speed manual in a high quality car. All this for less than $65k.

This thing will have long wait lists.

This thing is so ugly. BMW went from making some of the most attractive cars on the road and now they’re making crap like this. At least the new 3/4 Series has a nice body with an extremely ugly front end. A different front end on those cars would be a game changer.

The new M2 however is a massive downgrade in every way, looks wise.

Looks much better in red than the powder blue leaked photos, Overall I think it's fine but even so I'm still struggling with the rear. BUT it's a BMW so I'm sure in 18 months to 2 years the looks will grow to be acceptable. Only other note worthy point, as has been mentioned, is the weight. I thought maybe they'd try to shed a few pounds but seems that wasn't their plan.

How do you define step up? Type R starts at 89,900 and $172,238. I don't know what is crazier. This "ugly" car or insane priced Civic. If Civic Type R has a market, this M2 seems quite cheap. No?

I'm confused. What country/currency are we talking about here? There are 354 Civic Type Rs currently listed on Autotrader in the US. The most ridiculously marked-up one is $56k, and the cheapest is a high-mileage 2017 at $31k. Most are within a few grand (plus or minus) from the original MSRP. They're obviously not available new anymore, but when they were a friend of mine purchased a 2019 and a 2021, both at sticker.

Of course US dollars. The last time I talked to someone awhile back about Civic Type R, he gave me a number somewhere in 60k. I was like wow. Today I looked at the website and see these numbers.

Parts and engines are only available to Honda Racing Line members.

The Type R TC is designed as a turn-key solution for professional racers, and for skilled Type R enthusiasts who wish to transition from track time in a stock Type R to a fully built race car. Eligible for SRO TC Americas Touring Car competition, the all-new Type R TC race car is available to Honda Racing Line members with racing licenses exclusively through HPD at a manufacturer's price of $89,900. The specially outfitted Type R joins the TCA-class Civic Si and TCR-class Type R in HPD's portfolio of Civic-based, turn-key racing machines.

yeah.. no. you're way off. as mentioned, that high price is for a racing config.

estimated price for normal civic type r is 39k
https://www.caranddriver.com/honda/civic-type-r

as i said, the m2 will be the step up from the civic type r. both brash, pretty ugly, with go bits but ugly details.

Ok, you're not talking about street cars normal people would go into a dealership and buy. You are talking about literal race cars. As noted in the graphic you shared, you can't purchase one unless you are an "Eligible Honda Racing Line Member". They may or may not even be street legal.

Other custom factory race cars like this include the Hyundai Veloster N TCR ($155k), Audi RS3 TCR ($150k) Toyota Supra GT4 ($195k), and BMW M2 CS Racing ($105k). That's before you get into the really crazy stuff like the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 ($620k) or NSX GT3 ($500k).

I'd probably take an Audi RS3 over this. It would lack the rwd playfulness...but that 5 cylinder sound is intoxicating. And this is coming from someone who had a E30 as their first car.

Anybody else thinking the profile and greenhouse on that light green M2 looks an awful lot like the old Scion tC coupe?
