What's with the "Cement" Paint-Color Craze?

It's a color that I think Toyota and Ford have done well. It looks particularly good on trucks IMO.
the Tacomas posted above look fantastic.
Ford has/had an Abyss Gray that looks good.
They had a darker gray before called Lithium Gray that I was actually looking for before I bought my Ruby Red truck

I think Audi made this popular with Nardo. Everybody started wrapping and requesting Nardo Grey when they started putting it on Audi models. Even BMW was using it as an individual paint option. Now they have their own versions like Dravit.

The closest BMW shades to Nardo are:
Fashion Grey - lighter, hint of tan/taupe, heritage BMW color from the '50s.
Chalk - lighter version of Fashion Grey, originally a Porsche color
Brooklyn Grey - similar tone (but slightly lighter) to Nardo, but metallic with some light blue undertones. I believe it was introduced on the current X3M/X4M.
Limerock Grey - metallic, ever so slightly darker than Nardo. Introduced on F8x M3/M4 CS.
All of these are Individual colors. Limerock is the closest by far, you can see it on the left compared to Nardo on the right:

Nardo grey and Dravit grey look nothing alike. Dravit is MUCH darker and has a lot of gold metallic flake. Nardo is a non-metallic with some slight green undertones.
