My gas/heat bill is double which covers gas for stove, gas dryer and hot water.

Electric bill is up significantly as well but not double yet.

This winter will see tremendous increases in heating bills. I have been paying about double for electric and heating during the summer months vs 2021. I’m afraid to see what the winter bills will look like.

Unfortunately for those folks that will be starting out in the future and looking for a cheap car that they can service on their own, this will completely go away.

EVs will be programmed to last 10yrs and then software support will go away and obviously batteries will need to be replaced which would be way too costly. Just like now ppl get $1,000 iPhones without blinking, ppl will be buying $80k EVs every few years and going further into debt…
Maybe a bit extreme. If the governing landscape changes…(and it can and eventually will) …things can change

My natural gas bill is up 35%. Despite the fact that I use less in 2022 than I did in 2021. My electrical bill is almost double as well, also used less in 2022 than in 2021. I also get constantly asked to upgrade for $2/month for “cleaner electricity” Most people don’t pay attention…then when they are informed of it they say “I don’t care” and then if you say “you should” they say “what can I do?”

You should be happy there is no carbon tax in the United States

Not sure about other states but here our electricity rate is tiered. The lowest rates would be at night when most would be charging their vehicles. I believe others have stated they can set when their EV's are charging to take advantage of the lower rates.

Correct, in my state off peak hours are cheaper so I set my car to charge between midnight and 6am. Cost per week for me is around $16.

That is gonna change. It will no longer be cheaper at night. 6-7 years from now.

My guess is that if someone uses carbon based electricity generation, it will be charged extra. Therefore someone would need to seek out solar/wind based electricity for the lower cost.

Locally optimized controls and high home charging can strain the grid. Shifting instead to uncontrolled, daytime charging can reduce storage requirements, excess non-fossil fuel generation, ramping and emissions.
