Their products were originally that way. Here is a classic "Mr. Lexus" LS commercial from the 1990s: It even mentions that policy.

(I recommend turning your volume down some for the introduction...the music from the video, for some reason, starts with a sharp noise-blast right at the start)

Welp, this is me for a couple of days while the dealer sorts out something they messed up (which I will post about elsewhere). Somewhat off-topic, but I have to say having the nice 2GR in the RX will be a thing of the past. This thing is pretty nice to drive. Definitely not as tight-feeling as what I am used to in terms of its ride though.

Really hard to believe that the new RX will not have a V6 for the first time in the lineups history Time will tell, but those smaller turbos just won’t have the smooth feel of a V6. Smaller turbos are just not a true replacement

After seeing the hilarious marketing campaign for the BMW XM, I'm not remotely phased by what Lexus is doing here.

That looks like it was meant to be a demo reel for the editor more than an advert for the car.

RX is definitely the wrong product to be promoting to the youth

All the design decisions they made with the RX show us that they want to appeal to a younger demographic...

And what 60 year old is going to look at those enormous "ruby red slipper" wheels and have that make them want to buy the car?

Like I said its just a bizarre choice of campaign

Sure. But the new Lexus NX is for the youth. An RX is more for a professional.

Lots of people under 50 who are very successful professionals. Many under 40. They are clearly targeting a younger demo for this RX than RXs before it

Oh for sure. But the NX for the entry level. RX makes sense for an empty nest professional

Not everybody who is younger wants "entry level", look at me. Look at all the people under 50 you see driving X5s and GLEs etc. Its fine to say Lexus doesn't want those younger consumers but the design decisions they made with the RX tell you thats not the case, they do want to appeal to a younger demographic. Even this campaign points towards that, the choice of the Wizard of Oz just doesnt make any sense.
