It makes zero sense lol. The Wizard of Oz has no impact on the buyers they are trying to reach.

maybe they wanted to leverage a film made as long ago as the median age of their customers

The intent is obviously to juxtapose following the yellow brick road with taking your own path, so in that regard it does make sense.

And it’s still an iconic film. It was one of our daughter’s favorites when she was little.

I'll even do the marketing for them for free. You're welcome, Lexus.

Mercedes-Benz once did a Wizard of Oz tie in.

Why though? Wizard of Oz is one of the most popular and influential films of all time

Lexus marketing is just bizarre. They used to market around being a superior engineered product. Now its feelings/emotion based marketing, except their products don't evoke any real feelings. Maybe the LC500, but that's about it.

The Lexus marketing from the past is outdated. Nobody really markers that way anymore. It’s all about lifestyle now…. What is so great about the LC500 advertisements? I’ve never seen such an ad for the LC500
