Hyundai Motor America Reports October 2022 Sales
November 1 2022- October Total Sales Increased 7%; Retail Sales Up 11%

- All-Time Total and Retail Sales Records for Elantra HEV, Santa Fe HEV, Tucson, Tucson HEV and Santa Cruz
“Demand is still there and our lineup of EV vehicles contributed to record sales this month,” said Randy Parker, CEO, Hyundai Motor America. “With the great products we have, we’ll continue to compete in the marketplace. Our company has done an excellent job keeping the product pipeline moving.”
October Retail Highlights
Hyundai’s retail sales of 58,315 units represented an 11% year-over-year increase from October 2021. This was the third consecutive month of best-ever retail sales led by Elantra HEV (+146%), Santa Fe HEV (+64%), Santa Cruz (+63%), Tucson (+63%) and Tucson HEV (+27%). Hyundai Green sales of 7,576 represented 13% of retail and an 11% year-over-year increase.
October Product and Corporate Activities
- Groundbreaking in Georgia: Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, Governor Brian P. Kemp, company officials, and state and local leaders officially broke ground on Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) LLC’s new manufacturing plant at the Bryan County Mega site.
- IONIQ 5 2023 SUV of the Year: MotorTrend announced the Hyundai IONIQ 5 as the winner of its prestigious “Golden Calipers” for SUV of the Year.
- Newsweek Autos Awards: Hyundai was selected as the winner in three categories of the 2022 Newsweek Autos awards. Kona was awarded the Best Small SUV, Santa Cruz was deemed the Best Small Pickup and Hyundai was selected as the Best Brand for Your Buck.
- 2023 Tucson Marketing Campaign: Hyundai Motor America and its African American marketing agency of record, Culture Brands, launched their new multicultural campaign featuring the 2023 Tucson.
- Hyundai Sweeps Championships: For the third consecutive year, Hyundai clinched the drivers’, teams’ and manufacturers’ IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC) overall championships at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
- Hurricane Ian Disaster Relief: Hyundai Motor North America, Hyundai Capital America and Hyundai Motor Group announced a multifaceted hurricane relief program valued up to $17 Million.

Mazda Reports October Sales ResultsIRVINE, Calif., Nov. 1, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported total October sales of 25,319 vehicles, an increase of 29.7 percent compared to October 2021. Year-to-date sales totaled 240,710 vehicles; a decrease of 17.8 percent compared to the same time last year. With 26 selling days in October, compared to 27 the year prior, the company posted an increase of 34.7 percent on a Daily Selling Rate (DSR) basis.
CPO sales totaled 4,424 vehicles in October, a decrease of 16 percent compared to October 2021.

Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported October sales of 5,623 vehicles, an increase of 27.3 percent compared to last year. Year-to-date sales decreased 1.3 percent, with 36,878 vehicles sold.

KIA AMERICA ANNOUNCES RECORD OCTOBER SALES

- Sales of Kia’s electrified models increase 101-percent year-over-year
“After record third-quarter sales, Kia’s upward momentum continues with sales of our electrified models more than doubling year-over-year leading to our best-ever October,” said Eric Watson, vice president, sales operations, Kia America. “With Sportage up 118-percent and four additional models posting double-digit sales increases, it is clear that Kia has the right mix of products at just the right time.”
In addition to sales, October saw a number of significant announcements from the brand, including:
- Four of Kia’s most popular models winning their respective segments for the Strategic Vision’s 2022 Total Quality Impact Awards. The Kia K5 (Mid-Size Car), Seltos (Entry CUV), Sorento Plug-In Hybrid (Alternative Power Train - Utility), and Carnival (Minivan) were reported to have the fewest problems in the TQI report while all models were lauded for enhanced quality in seat comfort, power, and driver-assist features.
- Kia’s $500,000 donation to the American Red Cross in support of the organization’s relief efforts to help those impacted by hurricane Ian, the latest extension of Kia’s “Accelerate The Good” program which is designed to help those in need.
- Kia America’s donation of $600,000 which will be shared among four Bryan County charities as part of groundbreaking celebrations for the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant near Savannah, Georgia. The funds will be used to help provide housing, medical care, meals and help provide greater access to digital learning for families and children in need in the region.
- Kia’s participation in Electrify Expo Miami. The fourth of five events nationwide where leaders in automotive electrification gathered to share best practices and chart the best path forward as the industry transitions to fully electric models.

SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC. REPORTS OCTOBER 2022 SALES INCREASE 31.9 PERCENT OVER OCTOBER 2021
Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) today reported 48,568 vehicle sales for October 2022, a 31.9 percent increase compared with October 2021 (36,817). The automaker also reported year-to-date sales of 449,683 a 10 percent decrease compared with the same period in 2021. Subaru continues to face inventory challenges as the result of microchip and supply chain issues affecting automakers across the globe.“Subaru retailers went above and beyond to deliver strong results this October, surpassing our sales from the same time last year by a wide margin,” said Thomas J. Doll, President and CEO, Subaru of America, Inc. “In October, our retailers also showcased what it means to be More than a Car Dealer by hosting pet adoption events throughout the country as part of our Subaru Loves Pets initiative. Their efforts have helped pets in shelters find the loving homes they deserve, and we thank them for their dedication to animal welfare.”
In October, Crosstrek was the top performer by volume with 13,635 sales and a 28.74 percent increase compared with the same period in 2021. The Forester saw a 148.01 percent increase compared to October 2021, while the Outback increased by 40.29 percent. Year to date, the Ascent posted a 5.77 percent increase, while the BRZ posted an increase of 263 percent.
“Despite ongoing supply chain challenges industry-wide, October was a strong month for Subaru and we exceeded our October 2021 sales results,” said Jeff Walters, Senior Vice President of Sales. “We expect to see continued strength in demand as we head toward the holiday season and car buyers look for vehicles that are both family-friendly and adventure-ready.”
