Default Convert to Certified Pre Owned at end of lease?

My Lexus lease ends in a month, and I plan to purchase my RX450h from the dealer. It has ~36k miles. They are offering to convert the vehicle to a Certified Pre Owned for $5,000, adding 3 years and unlimited miles to the warranty, fixing any issues to bring it up to CPO quality (including new tires) and throwing in 4 free service visits. Is this a good deal, or would it be better to just purchase an extended warranty? The car is in good condition.

Many will say and myself included :
lexus is known for reliability and it’s longevity. Lexus CPO isn’t a must have like it is on a German brand.
Personally I’d pass on their offer and just keep the car assuming it’s given you no big issues during your time of ownership. It will last you for years to come. Id even pass on the extended warranty as well.
I’ll let someone else speak to their experiences and the hybrid as well

Chances are you'd be better off rolling the dice here. It's possible but unlikely that your Lexus might need some major repairs, and even if it does chances are it's not going to exceed 5K. And if I remember right you already have a longer warranty on the powertrain and the hybrid components anyway. I'd keep the 5K.

Lexus CPO process is pretty lame anyway. They check off some list and add it to the cost. It's your car and you know its service history so there are no surprises there. Keep the $5k

I wouldn't pay to CPO it, and I wouldn't buy an extended warranty either.

Absolutely not. There is no need for any extended warranty or certification for a modern Lexus. This has been proven time and time again. The odds are slim to none you will ever recoup your cost. They are designed to be money makers for the dealer/manufacturer. Just stay up with regular maintenance and save your money.

why make it a CPO when you owned it since new and will continue to own it after the lease ends?!
just pay for the regular services the car needs as you would any other car including tires. extended warranties can be bought outside of the dealership for much less!
