I mean, if you can drive an RX and be happy as a car enthusiast I don't see how you could have issues with me driving an S Class and being a car enthusiast lol. No logic there.

I never said you were not a car enthusiast, I just said that trade would be one most car enthusiasts would not make. Not sure why you're being so defensive if you truly could buy whatever car you want and are happy with the car you bought, who cares what I think? I don't care what you think...we just clearly have different priorities.

Most car enthusiasts who can buy anything they want are not going to buy a Lexus RX, especially those who have had a lot of high end Porsches and BMWs etc. Thats unusual, but if it works for you great.

Huh? You aren't making any sense. The RX does not have a multilink or a double wishbone setup. It has the same macpherson strut suspension the Toyota Highlander has.

I don't hate on the RX, but I call things like they are. The RX is nowhere near the same caliber of car as a BMW X5. Thats not a negative statement about the RX, its just a fact. Its a much less expensive vehicle that lacks a lot of sophistication the X5 has.

Who says it is? IMO the Toyota power train (especially E Axle) is far more sophisticated than the X5 4/I6. But the chassis of the X5 is more sophisticated. RX would be a Lincoln Nautilus type competitor. I looked today at the new 2023 RX and underneath is pretty cost cut.

Simply looking at the design says it is. Its obvious. I don't recognize a 4 cyl hybrid as being more sophisticated or better than a I6 or a TTV8 with a 48V EV system, but even if it were you still would have a car thats all stamped steel with no aluminum or other advanced metals in its design, FWD transverse layout with basic mac strut design, much less chassis rigidity, and interior with far lower end materials and less technology it goes on and on. The X5 is simply on another level and the price disparity is commensurate with that difference.

The RX is more built to a cost vs a design where the X5 is more built to a design.

We're talking about two different things here. The RX500h may have a more advanced hybrid system, but fundamentally it's still nowhere near the performance of any turbo 6 on the market except maybe the Acura V6.

And the vehicle the powertrain is in is nothing comparable to the German SUVs, it’s much better compared to the QX60 and MDX which are very similar in design and cost.

I need to drive the newest RX and NX, but the previous generation versus the X3 and X5 is no contest. The Lexus SUVs are more affordable, but you also get what you pay for. Not trying to sound harsh, as they are both good cars. I just think I'd rather an X3 over an NX even if I have to pay a little more, for instance.

X3 is actually a good bit bigger than the NX, it actually compares more to the RX

Who says the RX overall is comparable? I’ve long said that Lexus is more like a Cadillac Lincoln competitor than it is a German brand competitor. But they do have some overlap.

You guys have been arguing with me that it’s comparable lol. Sheesh.

Actually the Lincoln Aviator is a good bit more sophisticated than the RX, RX compares to say a Lincoln Nautilus.

‘Sure. The but new RX500h hybrid powertrain is far more advanced and sophisticated (but not the battery). The E-axle is from their EVs. They have married it to the gas component I don’t think any other manufacture has done this

That doesn’t change anything. I still have no desire to have a 4cyl hybrid vs an I6 or V8, and it’s still in a car that’s all steel and FWD transverse layout with a Mac strut suspension shared mostly with Toyotas.

Neither do I LOL.

I’d want the GX460, IMO the most desirable Lexus SUV
