Default SoCal Police Chase 11/9

https://abc7.com/la-police-chase-ora...ondo/12439504/

Definitely the craziest chase I can recall in recent times, lasted over an hour and a half with 3 different stolen vehicles... all things considered it's incredible how few injuries resulted from this

Any of the LA residents on here, were you aware that this was happening? Are the police typically this slow to respond? I'm no pursuit expert but it just seems like there were so many opportunities to take him out, yet they just stood there watching

(btw bonus drift at 16:05 in that vid)

I grew up in Los Angeles, and pit maneuvers are only used in extreme cases because they can cause collateral casualties due to the heavy volume of traffic. Most departments will pull back if the pursuit becomes to dangerous to the public, or when a helicopter gets eyes on the suspect vehicle. I haven't watched the video yet, but chances are the news helicopter or a police helicopter was tracking the vehicle and the PD vehicles were following at a distance

I watched the whole video. The military could have taken this guy out early in the chase with a number of different Air-to-Ground weapons, particularly with helicopter gunships, which are designed to precision-attack fast-moving enemy vehicles on the ground with laser-guided weapons. But it obviously would put other people and property around him at even more risk....probably an unacceptable amount.

I won't necessarily second-guess the actions (or inactions) the police took on the ground, but it did look to me like they could have shot out his tires a couple of times when they had him semi-cornered in both the van and the truck, and, for whatever reason, didn't.

As the years move forward, the police have become weaker and weaker in CA. This was a clear example. How many times could this loser have killed someone innocent.... he should have been taken out far early on. Truly a miracle no one else got hurt.

There were many times he simply ran free, with no police behind him. In fact, that is when he broke into the gardener's house and stole his truck. He ran three blocks with no police chasing after him. There is no excuse, even saying the chase became too dangerous. The police had plenty of time to be there when the van became stuck, but they weren't. That was just one example.

You certainly have a rather expansive view of what constitutes "politics."

I removed content about the voting habits in California, not sure how more clear cut that is.

the military cannot be called up for domestic car chases or domestic anything except in extreme circumstances. they could also have dropped a nuke on him too, that would have taken care of the problem.

Yeah beginning of the video when he entered the white Van was probably the best opportunity if they had pushed their cars closer and not let the Van escape.

Oh yeah. They cut away from whatever to chases every time. I had friends here home in Knox asking me to film them, because they noticed how many things I'd post about the police chases.

You could count on police chases several, several times a month.

You cannot simply deploy military assets in a civilian situation like this lol.

LOL when I was living in SoCal, chases like this were an everyday occurrence. This is not even the worst one I've seen 🤣. Once the helicopter starts tracking, police usually pull back. One chase a guy pulled into a gas station, paid, filled up then took off. That was actually entertaining

what I don't get is at the end there the cops tore that bystander out of their car that just got crashed into, threw him on the ground and cuffed him... meanwhile the actual guy being chased gets calmly escorted from the truck?

In the confusion, they don't know who is who, who may be armed, and there is a ton of adrenaline. People also interfere with the police, which becomes obstruction
