So.....how can the Lincoln Corsair be on the Most-Reliable List when its brother Aviator (and the related Explorer, which shares a lot of the same components) be on the Least-Reliable List? We do know, of course, that the Aviator and Explorer had a botched introduction, with many serious QC defects.

I noticed that, although it is an autoblog site, Consumer Reports apparently compiled this data. I usually trust them, but this is quite suspicious.

I like the Corsair myself, and seriously considered one before ordering the somewhat smaller Buick.

The Lexus GX doesn’t surprise me one bit, it hasn’t changed in over 12 years (yet they still can’t get the suspension corrected after all these years).

The GX also has a durable truck-chassis...none of that crossover stuff underneath.

What is wrong with the suspension?

I don't know if suspension has anything to do with it but among all the models I had, the GX was the one and only that gave me an issue. I think less than 2 years, it started drifting to the right. I always had to "pull" the steering wheel to keep it straight. I took to Lexus but they said it was fine. I took to an independent shop. They ran alignment test. Not right dead in center but still within the windows. I took it back to Lexus and showed them the test. They wouldn't do jack. So disappointed. I ditched it.

Except for the Toyota Prius, Prime and Lexus GX, most Toyotas are not built in Japan, which may explain why most models have gone down and don't make the list

Other Toyota's Sold in North America:

Toyota Corolla Hybrid and Toyota Corolla hatch are only made in Japan. Regular gas Corollas are also imported from Japan too, you just have to really look and seek them out over the Made in the USA models. Toyota no longer makes Corolla in Canada.

Here is a Made in Japan regular gasoline Corolla

I would prefer a Japan built Toyota, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't go through the trouble of searching for one, I'm way too lazy . Congrats to Toyota/Lexus for making the top of the list

.
America branded car and trucks are hit and miss Usually best to stay away when it comes to reliability unless you can get a huge discount. They make good vehicles, but they are often prone with lots of issues

I have two made in Japan and two that are not. Reliability they are pretty much the same. You can’t get full time 4WD unless you buy a Japan made Toyota or Lexus. I also find that the Japan designed models (not just built) are designed to a higher spec and are a little more comprehensive compared to stuff from the US and Canada.

RAV4 Prime is exclusively made in Japan as well.

The air suspension on the Gen 2 GX has a leaning issue that they seem could never fix and would say was within spec even though one side of the truck was higher than the other side. Then they came out with a TSB to fix it with a different spring for one of the sides and it still never fixed the issue. I still loved the truck but walking up to my GX and seeing it crooked everyday annoyed the heck out of me (as well as many on the forums here).

Mine didn’t have that problem but many did like you and it seemed to be something that couldn’t be fixed. It may have been due to the GX “lean” I mentioned.
