Also, a 200hp hatch is always more fun than a 400hp fat SUV.
different scenarios just can’t be compared.

back to the topic, 220hp for a Prius, more than enough. You could even have some fun with it, if it has something wider than 195.
I actually live in the Bay area

I hear that from everybody I know with an EV, once you are used to driving something really fast its hard to go back. EVs that torque right from the get go is hard to go back from too.

Nope. When they were replacing the BDU on my Polestar, I had a 2022 Camry SE for 3 weeks. It was driving me nuts how much lack of power it had. I just couldn't drive a car like the Prius, no matter how good it looks or how practical it may be

great, then you understand better.
There is very little chance you could open full throttle anywhere.
Also explain it, why those model3Ps are always parked on the left lanes while the beater Civics are passing everyone?
You just need enough power. The rest is all about willingness to drive fast, Waze and radar detectors.

That's because Bay area drivers suck. The worst drivers in the country, if not the world. The only place I've been where people drive 30 in the left lane and get into accidents at red lights.Topic for another thread...

sweeping statements like this don't contribute much... there are drivers that 'suck' everywhere.

back to the prius, obviously not something you want, but it will be great for many. different strokes.

maybe throttle back on the caffeine.

Well, how fast do you EXPECT drivers to go up and down those 40-degree hills in San Francisco, with stoplights at every block, that are probably more fit for mountain-goats than for automobiles?

So what would wider than stock tires help with traffic keeping you from being able to open up WOT?

True, I have to stop drinking those Starbucks Triple shot coffees....

@mmarshall I don't live anywhere near SF... it's almost 50 miles away

Starbucks French Roast, IMO, is some of the best coffee on the planet. Try it sometime...and their Italian Roast is almost as good.

True, you said "Bay Area", which is more than just SF, but those SF hills are famous, and are usually the first things one think of when driving in the Bay Area is mentioned...especially when one complains about slow drivers, as you did.

maybe third time is the charm….

Thread is not about full throttle traction, coffee or San Francisco topology. It’s about the 2022 Prius.

back on topic please.

I wouldn't even consider a Prime, although the Prime is a really good crossover and I would consider it over any other hybrid/gasoline brand... and EV'S didn't exist
The Prius will be for people with 1 car, possibly 2 cars. It eliminates range anxiety, still fast enough for people that arent racing their cars on the streets and for people that drives short distances, they may never have to visit a gas station either with the Prime variant.

Agreed. I'm just not one of those people. I would definitely not rule the Prime out if EV's didn't exist. As far as the new Prius, I've never been a fan of that platform, there are other hybrids I would buy over it. That said, it's going to be a very good car and I know it will sell very well

Maybe it helps you accelerate in a more predicable fashion so you do not cut someone off by accident? And BTW do not bring up a minivan (which weighs more than 3500 lbs I assume). An 18 wheeler has 500hp.
