Lol, it sounded awful in the video. I don't know why, but these latest Toyota 4 cylinders have excruciatingly bad acoustics. Dreadful. Further confirms that I could never do a 4cylinder, especially with a CVT.
But hey, it looks great though!
Back in September I had to drive a loaner 2021 VW Passat (2.0T) and it was like pulling teeth. I had to floor it just to get it to drive properly. It was the only car that Enterprise had (big car shortage) while my Polestar was waiting for a part, and it was so bad that I kept calling different Enterprise locations every single day to find out if they had another car I could trade with. After daily calling around one Enterprise location finally had a 2022 Camry SE. It still had an annoyingly weak buzzy engine, I still had to constantly floor it, but it was better than the Passat. To me 4 cylinders rank from tolerable to I would rather just take the bus
The first few minutes of the throttle house one are amazing... as someone who once interfaced with the Toyota marketing department directly it doesn't actually seem that far fetched haha

I still feel like the Prius should've gone away. Name the bZ4X the Prius X and let the standard models carry the hybrid and plug in hybrid torches that they already are.
I like the styling of the new Prius.
However, I don't think Prius sales can return to the 236k+ of 2012 simply because of today's existence of the Corolla Hybrid.

They won’t, and the Prius faithful have moved on to EVs.
I watched the Alex on Autos review last night with my wife, who loved her Prius. The made a good observation (as did Alex) that the cargo room was dramatically smaller…that’s the cost of the attractive shape…

Makes no sense to compare historical US Prius sales. Big mistake there Today there is the Camry and RAV4 hybrids. As well as Corolla and Lexus UX that share the same powertrain of either the 1.8/2.0+battery. Outside of the US there is the bigger Corolla wagon with the 2.0+battery I think Prius will get to 250K worldwide no doubt as gas is very very expensive outside of the US

Those are all also reasons why the Prius won't reach those same sales figues, people who aren't big tech adopters (who were a huge part of Prius sales back in the 2000 and early 2010s) and just want hybrids buy Toyota hybrids that have more utility like you mention, and those tech adopters have moved on to EVs.
Thats precisely why they are making the Prius sportier and more powerful and better looking, because they need a selling proposition for the car because "hybrid tech" doesn't do it anymore.
