2023 Toyota Prius

Depends where you are and what region. All of my Toyotas came with wheel locks from the factory. They were not dealer installed. But they are all Canadian spec. Now, in the states is different. If varies by model or trim as Corolla comes with them only on the Apex. I think all Camrys, Tacos and Tundras they are standard. I think in the 1980s and 1990s all Toyotas and Lexus models had them if one had alloys.
Toyota can be incredibly weird and cheap. Like why the Tundra with hybrid has a locking gas door but the gas only models do not. My 2004 has a locking door but my 2021 does not. Super cheap of Toyota there. But my Corolla Matrix and Corolla both have locking gas doors.
Apparently with hybrid Corollas wheel locks are not included. I would love to hear the justification for not including wheel locks for a Toyota…or for any car brand as a matter of fact.

They cut costs by doing things like only having 1 seat-back pocket and a lock cylinder only on the driver door. They aren't going to do that without passing a cost like that on to the consumer. Like every other car company. Maybe you'll see it as a dealer accessory.

Toyota, the cheapskates also cut out permanent 4WD on the new Sequoia. The last two generations had that option in the outstanding multi-mode transfer case. CD players have gone missing…kudos to Toyota leaving the CD player in the Lexus GX updated interior…but I got shafted with my 21 4R…just terrible. Lexus now makes you pay extra for door sill covering in the new RX…that to me is just awful.

It doesn't stop the thieves anyway.

Exactly. I lost the key for the Pacifica and I just had the dealer take them off and put regular lugs on, they have a box of all the locks In a nice little set, and they just tried them all until they had the right key. You can’t tell me a wheel thief doesn’t have the same set!

I don't agree, I would rather they take the space and money that goes into the CD player and use it to offer a feature that a majority of people will use. I would bet 85% of the CD players in Toyota/Lexus vehicles never get used, thats a big waste.

In 2020, Toyota removed the CD player from both the Tundra and the Tacoma to use that space for a bigger infotainment screen, and I think that’s a totally worthwhile trade off. I have the CD player in my GS but have never used it. My wife uses the CD player in the Highlander on occasion but wouldn’t miss it if it were gone.
Edit: just realized this is the Prius thread. Sorry for the off-topic post.

no they do deserve kudos for the Lexus GX. so wrong to suggest that criticism is not warranted . More options are better. But Toyota deserves the criticism on the 4R and all the cars that don’t have that option. Cost cutting sucks. Amazed how some just take/accept what is handed to them. Heck…Toyota put a temporary full size spare on some trims the new Tundra
