GM to introduce small crossover pickup in Brazil
This probably won't affect the American market, at least for now, but Chevy is going to introduce a unibody compact Montana crossover-truck in Brazil...similar to what we see with Ford's Maverick and Hyundai's Santa Cruz.
The lack of an AWD option might seem odd...but with Brazil being a tropical country with no snow or ice, perhaps it makes sense for that region. But, given the Maverick's huge success here (the factory has been sold out for months), perhaps it would make sense for GM to add the AWD option and bring it here as well.

After five intensive months of official sneak peeks from GM’s Brazilian subsidiary, the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana has just made its world debut in Brazil as the first compact unibody pickup in Chevrolet‘s history.
The automaker officially revealed the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana during a special broadcast on the Chevrolet Brasil YouTube channel, anticipating the brand’s most important and strategic launch for next year both in the country and throughout South America. GM claims that the new 2024 Montana inaugurates a new compact pickup concept by combining the comfort of a utility vehicle with the versatility and robustness of a truck.
“This innovative concept from new Montana fits perfectly with the new habits, values and needs of the consumer, who seeks a healthier lifestyle, with better harmony between work and leisure, with more productivity and satisfaction,” said President and CEO of GM South America, Santiago Chamorro, in an official press release. “Only such a multifunctional and disruptive car could deliver all this with quality and prestige,” he added.
Based on an extended variant of the GEM platform, the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana combines a crew cab body with Chevrolet’s global design language sporting a Chevy Blazer-inspired front end, organic lines and a raised cargo bed that bring unique proportions. Black plastic cladding adorns the lower body section, while the most-equipped variants include roof rails and a sport bar above the bed.
However, the most distinctive feature of the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana is the new Multi-Flex cargo bed designed to function as a giant 874-liter (30.87 cu. ft.) trunk. It comes with an advanced tonneau cover sealing system that gives it the best waterproofing protection in the segment and offers an extensive line of accessories that allow multiple solutions for cargo transportation, in a combination that no other vehicle on the market offers.
All versions of the 2024 Chevy Montana come standard with a custom-calibrated 1.2L turbocharged engine that develops an output of 133 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque. The block can be mated to six-speed manual or automatic transmissions that will offer the best acceleration and the lowest fuel consumption in the segment, respectively. Apparently, the new Montana will only be offered with FWD.
The all-new 2024 Chevy Montana has just entered a special pre-sale period and will begin arriving at the extensive network of Chevrolet dealers in Brazil starting in February of next year. As the new entry-level model in the Bow Tie brand’s pickup portfolio, the new Montana will be manufactured at the GM São Caetano do Sul plantto supply the Brazilian market and export to other countries in the American continent.

Looks, of course, are subjective, but the Maverick, like the Bronco and Bronco Sport, has been an enormous success. The factory sold out on the 2022s a couple months after it was introduced.

If GM "butched" it up a bit, it would be a raging success in the U.S., just like the Maverick. For the life of me, I can't understand why GM's marketing division is so late to the game over so many decades.
