Yes, my car also has a fan. I can charge it for longer compared to the other vehicles I've mentioned but overall it doesn't do much to cool it. I will maybe get 15-20 min out of it before it turns off, then it'll start cycling. Once it starts cycling, it'll do the opposite and kill the battery.

This is great news! I wonder if they have made improvements along the way. They have been putting wireless chargers in my car since 2017, it's first model year without updates to the hardware so definitely possible they have figured that out.

No, it connects to Android Auto only. You plug it into the USB, then the device activates Android Auto, wirelessly.

I utilize the Motorola version of this AA device. These devices work flawlessly and as intended

Unfortunately not the Motorola device. I can't speak for bit's AA device. Never checked. But I believe there are similar devices available for Carplay.

I have the same AAWireless dongle that Bit does. I actually got the very last one from the first round on Kickstarter, after his mention of it here. It's been really great, but does not support CarPlay. I only have two minor annoyances:

1) Since the car doesn't know my phone is connected wirelessly, I get the "Your Cell Phone is still in the Vehicle" voice over EVERY time I get out of the car.
2) If I'm listening to a non-AA audio source (XM, USB, etc) and someone (ie my wife) whose phone is connected to the dongle opens an app that CAN do audio (Webex, etc), it mutes my desired source until the dongle is unplugged, or a very long (like 5-10 minutes) timeout has expired.

But all in all, I'm extremely happy with it.

1) doesn't happen to me because it only warns if i leave the phone in the wireless charger.
2) odd, haven't experienced this in either vehicle. maybe update its firmware? could also be the car's confused.

as gferg posted, the square device provides a wifi connection to the phone to do android auto wirelessly (i can keep my phone in my pocked if i want).
the car's vertical slot i showed next to the cup holder is where you 'stand' the phone into for it to wirelessly charge the phone.
