I actually had a woman stop me in the mall garage, actually flagged me down to tell me how beautiful the car is. No joke! And S Classes are everywhere here.

I would believe it! You have a very nice spec, reserved but still high class.

For me the 500s seat have some odd pressure points I just could not adjust out, it was odd since they were trying to be sporty seat but not? I prefer the ones in the 460 since those are at least really good at the comfort factor, the LC500 seats also have a strange hotspot for me but all is forgiven on that car due to how amazing it is.

Why in the world did you own 3 LS500's outside of running a limo fleet or having a lemon? The car hasn't even been around for 6 years, and leases typically run 3 years.

Yes.....sometimes strangers can be very outgoing. I get a number of comments from strangers on the Bronze/Brown paint and White/Black interior on my Encore GX, particularly at gas stations.

not debating, but what specific infotainment and driver assist features you're referring to that the LS is lacking? about the infotainment, for '23 the put the entirely new, supposedly hugely improved infotainment in.

Thats just it, the LS500 is no longer the same sort of car as an S Class, 7 Series, A8 or G90. Its really more comparable to something like an A7 or MB CLS or something like that. If you want a big spacious soft flagship sedan, the G90 is that and the LS500 isn't.
agreed.

\When I drove the LS, I always wanted the S Class.
ah finally, the confession.

in the end it's all just show... some are impressed by clothes, i'm not. maybe growing up near the british royal family made me realize how farcical it all is.

I can’t speak to the new infotainment, but the interface difference alone. Lexus has far less advanced lane centering and self driving technology, Lexus has no road sign interpretation, no user selectable comfort modes, their built in apps are not as robust, their system is not configurable in any way, there is no ambient lighting, Mercedes uses geofencing for instance and can raise and lower the suspension based on dropped waypoints, Lexus has no self parking, BMWs will back themselves out of an area up to 190 feet, the lists just go on and on.

ah finally, the confession.
I always said I wanted an S Class lol

I don’t care about clothes, what I do like is that there’s an employee there is a fairly menial job who has been there for many many years who clearly takes a lot of pride in what he does and serving the dealerships customers. That’s what I found cool about that, not who bought him the suit.

Part of the allure of a Mercedes is the history of the brand, the original inventor of the car. Dealerships that have been there for 60 years…etc.

My 2020 LS was totalled in an accident. I replaced it with a 2021 LS. A couple of months ago I traded the 2021 for a 2022 LS. It was fully loaded with the Luxury Package. The previous owner bought it for his wife but she didn't like it because she felt it was too big. The Car had 230 miles. The dealer gave me a deal I couldn't refuse.

The only thing I agree with you is the interior space. It is smaller than previous models. Other than that my 2022 LS with the Luxury Package (air suspension, rear window shades, rear reclining seats, 4 zone climate control, HUD, Dynamic radar cruise control) is fantastic.

Not saying it’s not a fantastic car, it’s just not on the level of these German competitors

Rear massaging seats? Mutli-chamber air suspension? Powered side window shades with auto closing covers? Rear TVD? Active ratio steering? Rear screens with independent audio? Ambient adjustable lighting? Rear seat memory and easy exit/entry? Thermal cameras with interlinked with all speed ACC with automatic lane centering with all speed emergency braking? 400mm 6 piston 2 piece floating brakes? 20/80 or 80/20 torque split via Torsen center diff? 500+ HP? Front seats with automatic air bolsters that adjust in high G turns and deflate automatically when you open your door? Google earth integration to the nav system? Refrigerated glove box? Natural handwriting interface for NAV/system controls? Powered sunshades and dual sunroofs? Ability to control all seats and functions from the drivers seat with one touch control? All aluminum construction?

I could go on for quite a while and my car is 10 years old. Lexus is still behind badly vs those yet alone the latest gen German Flagships that went absolutely nuts with tech.

There is also the MOST critical aspect. The drive. You would not believe how vast the difference is and how trivial 100+ becomes, you can go though a roundabout at 65mph without any fuss.

German cars were ahead of the LS460 too…far ahead. LS460 had no turbos where the Germans did. Lots of super advance tech has always been the Germans forte. Even the LS460 had no pano roof..Germans did. BMW, Audi and MB all had 12 cylinder motors…almost impossible to argue LS was ever on the German playing field for that discrepancy alone. During the LS430 reign…S class distronic-ed itself with 4matic Lexus took 10 more years to go Torsen awd. Heck the Germans were doing short and long wheelbase version in the LS400 era. Geez, Mercedes had diesels S classes and still do. And S class came in Plug in hybrid too.

BTW…are you gonna tune the W12?

my '18 LS 500 needed engine mount replacement TSB at around 25k miles.

Same, when I take my clothes off at muscle beach, the ladies usually walk head first into something. I counted 7 just today.

Yep but at least in the earlier years the LS was faster, better braking, and had mostly compatible features to a same price German and actually punched up. Then they just stopped trying....

Well naturally I'm obligated to do so lol! They usually make 525-550 stock and I'm planing on replacing the factory downpipes with headers from VAST and a custom tune by a W12 specialist. The tune increases wheel HP by 65-75 and the headers should net around 30 with even more low end power, nothing amazing but for an NA engine I'll take it. It will end up with about 100 more than my 4.0 car all said and done but it cost over 5x as much lol! Turbos are way easier to get power out of after all....
