I'm starting to become an Audi fan listening to the members who really like them and say nice things, it was never on my radar before.
Since you mentioned the steering assist, have you ever overwhelmed the EPS on the LS460? Think the EPS throttling or whatever on the BR-Z/GT86 under "hard" conditions (say, you brake during a slide and try to correct with all the weight up front). I've managed to do that on the gs450h by messing around with all systems off (certification mode).
Any issues with the FSI implementation on these? Early FSIs are a bit notorious for carbon buildup. Not sure if there's any data on the W12s given how rare they are.

No, even with much higher caster (I run 3* more than spec) and oversized sticky tires I have never had a wheel authority problem at any low speeds or crazy direction changes. However it's so a 50:50 weight split car and I usually don't turn under braking if I can avoid it so there may be a situation I'm not aware of. Since it's RWD I'm usually under power during turns
The W12 has some carbon buildup issues but it doesn't cause running issues, only saps around 20-40hp and it's not too hard to clean. There is an established procedure for doing it but it does take a few days since there is no walnut jig for the W12 engine stateside.
I have most of the part numbers etc together for consumables, after general service and any needed repairs I plan to stock a set of control arms, brakes, driveline mounts and driveshaft disks, CV axles, and air struts/compressor so that if anything consumable wears out I always have spares in additional to one full set of fluids/filters/plugs for normal maintenance. At some point I'm going to try and find a 2nd engine as well to keep in storage next to the spare V8 I have for my truck.
My car has arrived! This makes the 2nd D4 A8 and 4th flagship in my lineup. Shipping went well and for making the supremely unwise decision of buying sight unseen I'm shocked how little is wrong.
The only issues appear to be a PS/front main leak, not sure yet but I'll know when I get it on the lift. Based on how it drives/responds/acts I do not think I will find much else wrong underneath but you never know. Air suspension works perfectly from all tests and checks, same with the variable steering and TVD. I absolutely love the way it handles itself vs my 4.0T even on the crap tires it came with.
Limiter is insultingly low.....power delivery is unlike anything else I have ever felt, you never need more than 1500 rpm to accelerate normally and the immediacy and smoothness is insane. Totally puts my tuned 4.0 to shame, there is simply never a dead spot or delay and the pull is infinite up top.
The only other issue I could find is the B&O sub is blown, I'm going to pull it and see if it's a foam or dust cover issue. It appears to be a dust cover rattle to me but I'm not sure....

Codes are basically non-existent and all special tests were good to go and I have control over all systems with no delays. I'm shocked by this.

Im somewhat surprised it only has 48 control computers, I was expecting around 70 or so.
Oh it needs front brakes as well, so I'm instantly out 3k already lol! I can probably still use these for another 10k or so but they are well past spec on the rotors.
It's also insane how much attention this draws, I had multiple cars staring at me/drifting into my lane in my neighborhood and between there and the gas station. The people next door and across the way came out and were asking a bunch of questions about it after noticing it's a 12cyl
Why does it cost 3K to replace cast (albeit probably two piece) rotors? Something's sketch.
400mm alum hat semi-floating (pinned) fronts and 380mm rears, I'll do them all at once and they are just really expensive parts wise. I think I have found the OE maker though so if I can confirm it price should be about 1/2, much easier to track things for for German cars. The brakes have a patent so it make it simple
