Trade LS430 for Avalon... WHAT?!
#31
Honestly, I have a 2022 LS and a handful of family members had smark remarks the first time I pulled up with the car, it just made me wash it with extra tire shine the next time we visited lol. I learned to be confident and proud of everything I earned in life, no one has given me anything, including the few with remarks. You only live once and have to not worry what others think at all. But I totally understand your dilemma on the rwd, not safe in the winter.

I understand if it’s a late model LS, then sure you’d get some comments. But it’s an old LS that is not even worth much, so the only comment that it should attract is that it’s an old men’s car and has no CarPlay.

My response to any snarky remarks in a 2002 Lexus would be "Haha, its 20 years old". People make remarks to me about the Mercedes, they did about my LSs too, just ignore it. You worked for it...

^^ Nice!
Just don't get anyone anything for Christmas and they'll think you're broke or just the biggest tightwad on earth. lol
Yeah, no easy answer on that.

i still maintain it's the better choice for most people who don't really care what they're in and just want to fill up with regular

don't be fooled haha that final 5% is very difficult to achieve! all i'm trying to say is an old avalon is supremely comfy and nice riding, but if phrases such as "longitudinally mounted" or "spring rate" are part of your vocabulary then the avalon needs to be completely taken out of consideration

Like I said, fair enough. But go take an expansion bump ***dipppp*** on the freeway in both cars, Avalon will be just fine but the way LS430 handles things like these (with utter aplomb and grace) it shows the crazy amount of engineering and sophistication that went into the suspension. That may be worth the extra money to some, also the V8 is buttery just like everything else in the car.

If you felt it was the right choice to trade, then it probably is. But I think there's a few factors you haven't considered:
1. The LS is better in terms of a crash(in theory) because it's 500lb heavier.
2. LS has more premium materials. The wood trimming are much more expensive than the Avalon's.
3. The LS is an entire generation older than the Avalon.
But it doesn't sound like you were too crazy about the LS.

You might be thinking of the ES which shares the same platform and powertrain as the Avalon. The LS is RWD and a far more sophisticated vehicle, though that RWD aspect is also what hurts it in winter weather (without proper winter tires at least).

Well OP was comparing LS and Avalon. The way I read it is that there's little difference between the two.
