This.

I don't believe Toyota is even really trying to convert people who normally buy domestic pickups(such as myself). They know it's largely futile, we're simply not interested or gettable.

They sell the Tundra to provide an offering in that segment to Toyota car buyers who happen to need a pickup. This is just me talking out my ***, but I'd put money that greater than 70% of Tundra buyers already drive other Toyota vehicles. The captive audience is there and the added benefit for Toyota is it keeps them in house instead of going over to Ford or RAM and deciding they like those brands after experiencing their trucks.

There is definitely a market for Toyota trucks, and the Tundra plays to that market.

Agreed. As I’ve said before, the Tundra is there for the Tacoma people to move up to when they want to bump up. I am one of those people, though I did consider the domestics when I made the switch. Freaking loved my Tacoma, though…

Awesome post!

Makes a lot of sense to me.

More great posts, nice!

If I have time later I may have to go to the website and see what cars and suvs get the V8.
I'm guesing the Caddy SRX is running a V-6 but prob take some time and see what's up.

If the future is buying a truck with a V8 or an EV I'm going to buy the truck. I wish the Tundra had a new V8 instead of the turbo 6.

Trucks will eventually give way to EVs too, but tech has a ways to go until it can replace a V8 in a truck thats used to towing and hauling

Well, I've done my due diligence and dug the Cadillac's site looking at all the engine offerings for the SUV's.
None of them have an 8 cylinder except the Escalade.

I parked near a XT5 today and it looks better in person than the pics, nice, I really like it.
