I think we need a poll.

Palisade vs Telluride vs Acura vs Maxda.
And any other contenders for this price range and class.

Title of the thred begs for it IMO since it's "hyundai Palisade is STILL one of the best family hauers".

I don't need a poll. None of those interiors are "first class". A Mercedes GLE has a first class interior; none of those vehicles has an interior on par with that. I would get a top of the line Telluride without hesitation, and that interior is much nicer than a Pilot's or a Pathfinder's or a Highlander's, and probably an MDX's. But calling it "first class" is just hyperbole.

Acura fanboys on this thread are free to love whatever cars they love. But Acura isn't, and has never been, "first class".

Nowhere near the appeal. I rented an Enclave for a week, and its very spacious but weird/ugly looking, drive is loose...otherwise just not a very compelling vehicle.

You told us earlier you liked it.

And what do you mean by drive is "loose?".....that the underpinnings and tires are not set up for canyon-carving? It's first and foremost a Buick....which, in most cases, means comfort and easy-driving first, not sports-car handling. Buick tried making 20" wheels and rubber-band/low-profile tires standard on the otherwise-nice Cascada convertible...and its sales went nowhere. Very few Lacrosses were sold with the 20" wheelsand touring suspension option either...it screwed up the ride too much.

Its just kind of a ponderous vehicle to drive. Nobody wants a vehicle like that to be a canyon carver, but you want it to feel settled and stable on the road.

Personally, I just prefer luxury brands/cars over KIAs/Hyundais's offerings. But Palisades/Tellurides are really nice cars.

Of course, we all just want to hear each other' justications. Luxury brands just "feels" better to own and drive lol.

Well, of course. I think everybody if asked prefers luxury cars lol. Nobody stays at the Motel 6 because they prefer it to the Ritz Carleton.

Like, I would rather have a Mercedes GLS, but they are twice as expensive.

The point is these cars offer a ton for the money, and they punch way over their price class.

The issue is down low in the luxury offerings, people buy cars because they have a luxury nameplate that are just not as good a car as they could buy from a mainstream company. Those cars I wouldn’t buy, just having a luxury brand doesn’t make it a luxury car.

But then again we run into the problem of picking a luxury brand or a non lux brand because of the same price racket.

I'm going with the luxury brand every time.

Even with a 30k 2022 KIA K5, I'd still go with a used 30k 2010 MDX.

Also true that Luxury needs to be measured with actual numbers and put on paper. But some things are harder to measure like perception.

The issue is when you're down low in the price bracket with luxury brands you are usually giving up features and quality and design to high trim mainstream branded vehicles. For instance a top spec Telluride is nicer than an MDX until that MDX gets over $60k. So, by choosing a $50k MDX you are giving up a ton of features and quality and space just to have an "Acura" brand. Thats silly.

Even with a 30k 2022 KIA K5, I'd still go with a used 30k 2010 MDX.
A 2010 MDX won't be $30k...butA 13 year old MDX vs a new Kia K5? LOL, no. I had a K5 for a week, its a really nice car...no way I would buy a car that old over one. Now, 2-3 year old Acura instead? I wouldn't do that but I can understand doing that. Friend of mine bought a 3 year old ES350 over a new Accord. Thats a purchase that makes sense. I personally don't buy used cars.

Also true that Luxury needs to be measured with actual numbers and put on paper. But some things are harder to measure like perception.
Perception is what you have to get away from. Stop spending money to impress other people, other people don't care. There is no "prestige" in buying an old used luxury car...if you love the car and the way it makes you feel, thats different.

I'm not sure how old you are, but as you get older your desire to impress other people fades.
